Жыл бұрынHurricane Ian is continuing to quickly intensify and has prompted hurricane and storm surge warnings for parts of the Tampa Bay area. As of the 5 p.m. advisory, the storm has strengthened into a category 2 hurricane with winds now up to 100 mph.

When i lived in Springhill, Fl. about an hour North of Tampa, this is the only Weatherman i would watch! No Drama, No scare Tactics, just 100% facts and honesty! When you hear him say, we don't have the skill, that is being brutally honest! Make sure you prepare your property, and have 2 weeks or water, and non perishables. Living in South and central Fl. for 60 years, i've been through worse!!

He does an excellent job without the foolishness of most TV weather these days. He refuses to walk all over the place, wave hands and so on. Bob Harrington on WWSB in Sarasota is top notch too. The older guys give it much more straight without being an embarrassment. Imagine, just the weather and lots of info........

if you live in Florida here's a tip take a empty 2 L ( as many as you want) fill it with water about 1/3 of the way then freeze it if you lose power it'll help keep your refrigerator cool

I remember hurricane charlie. Cat 5 heading tampa, last minute it turned 90 degrees and hit 45 min south. To Sarasota area.

In 2004, we had the worse hurricanes since this one, the power was out for over a week all over Florida, so schools were closed for most of the state, i would expect this to be a similar situation. This looks like the hurricanes from 2004.

C-Zone here in South Venice. I am a 77 year old handicapped USCG Vet. I have a small Terrier Dog, and I just received my wife's (of 55 years) cremains. She passed on the 13th of September. I am out of my mind with worry to the point of mental-paralysis. Where do I go? What do I do? How do I get there? I don't know how long I can tread water anymore, if it get to that point. My mind and heart are broken and seem to be out of order.

I went through Andrew, Irma (in the keys, direct hit), and now Ian in (protected Tampa Bay). Last direct hit was a Cat 3 in 1921 with a few glancing blows. Stay safe everyone. Your life is not worth a bit of inconvenience.

That what kind of happen with Elna back in 1986. It sat off the Suncoast for a day or two then moved on. The Suncoast doesn't need to be on the east side of this hurricane.

@@mikegunner6686 I'll believe ya when the models show it above 130 mph near land. I'm simply going by the models provided. 130mph is 1 mph above cat 3. So, barely a cat 4.

Hurricanes/Tropical storms are nature's way of replenishing the water table of sub-tropical regions (e.g. Florida). Florida needs all the fresh water it can get as the state has had a water shortage for a very long time due to the huge influx of people moving there over the past four decades.
