In this video we will look at a Husqvarna 115iPT4 ploe saw with a customer complaint that it won't run. A warning light flashes that there is a problem so lets dig into it and find the issue. #smallenginerepair

It was an unexpected error and your troubleshooting was good. I have a 120 pole saw and hedge trimmer and overall I am satisfied. I have bought them for light work, where work has to be done for a short time. Battery tools have the advantage that they are easy to access and always start, even after a long winter's cold. But if there is real work to be done, I use a Husqvarna forestry clearing saw, 3 Husqvarna chainsaws etc. with petrol engines. There is still a big difference in power.

I’ve Not Worked On One Yet But The Stihl’s Have a Traditional Polesaw Pole Assembly With The Motor Mounted In The Powerhead With The Battery Were a Gas Powerhead Would Normally Go 😀 Nice Catch On The Brush Holder 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This probably was done to save weight. Just a wire in the tube.

Great catch, was there any signs that lead you to it? Or just investigate as you go?
@TheGreasyShopRag3 ай бұрын
For me the biggest clue separating an electrical issue from a mechanical issue was the fact that the chain wouldn't turn. Yes it was an electric motor failure but it was the binding that gave it away.

what do you think of think of these battery tools? i am thinking they have along way to go to make these work right
@TheGreasyShopRag3 ай бұрын
The homeowner ones are pretty basic just to keep costs down and be competitive. The pro grade tools are powerful. All will benefit when battery technology gets better.

Will Husky have you install new motor or will they replace the whole shebang?

That one got a new motor.

This doesn't give me confidence that battery powered tools are ready to take over from gas (as is now mandated in California) but maybe I can make a living fixing them? Thanks for the video, brother

To be fair, I only show videos of broken ones and not all the good ones that are still running.

@@TheGreasyShopRag I know, I know... I'm just venting. We're three months into the small engine ban and most people haven't realized that they can't buy a conventional chainsaw, string trimmer, generator, etc. and I don't think the electric technology is yet advanced enough to take over. They're generally more expensive and have abysmal run time restrictions even if they're just as reliable.

What are the contractors doing for equipment? Are used equipment sales up?@@mendonesiac
@mendonesiac3 ай бұрын
@@TheGreasyShopRag The state is throwing some money at businesses to help them transition, but for property owners like myself there's no help or guidance. This ban is still really recent. I'm guessing used sales (and prices) will be increasing, and saws sold as "parts" like the clones from China will become the only option for a new gas tool. I hope Husky finds a loophole because I've been happily running their equipment for over 30 years, and being off-grid, electric isn't a viable option here in the redwood forest

I wonder if it is under warranty? if not new motor?
