You had us rolling on the floor when you said "It's warm now!" because we were all saying the same thing. Great video. And I think your dog is cool.

Ask a 2 stroke mechanic. Its not a mix thing. Its a cold seize thing. That piston expands faster than the cylinder when not warmed properly and wack ing throttle and yes you are taking life out of that saw. Your piston will be scored in 4 spots and this is a sign of cold seizure.
@DirtBrute

There’s no need to warm up a saw in this temperature. Mabe in the cold winter when the metal is cold but . I’ve never done it in spring and summer and never will . Thanks for watching

@@DirtBrute 2 stroke dirtbikes cold seize in 100 degree heat and chainsaws do too, especially on a bigger saw...theres more material to expand. Like i said, ask a competant mechanic. Or dont. Thats on you, but mark my words...youll get away with it until you dont, and when it does finally fail, take a look at your piston and youll see the tell tale signs of cold seizure, a scoring in 4 areas.... for and aft of the wrist pin, on both sides of the piston. But suit yourself, Best of luck to you.

@@jasonsytsma9367 well I’m not saying your wrong and I know all about why you warm it up but I’ve never done it and I’ve never had a problem in all my years of owning equipment. So until it happens once . I’m not doing it . But I respect your correct knowledge. Thank you for watching!

Not to mention you should always give any saw or power tool for that matter time to break in at idle when you first buy it, not put it to the floor the first start and coming from a certified diesel technician any engine with moving components should always be warmed up

Came for detailed review of the 460 not insights into your 'personal preferences' and talk about sharpening chains, etc. Comparing your two saws ? superfluous!
@DirtBrute

Then, maybe you should go to the manufacturer’s website, not peoples personal KZfaq channels. I don’t make videos for just you, a lot of my viewers want to hear my personal preference. If you don’t like it, don’t be a viewer and move on.

The BEAUTIFUL DOG brought you a piece of wood to cut early on! The only 2cycle I have that I run till the CHOKE IS OFF is my back pack BLOWER only cuz if it stalls out, I have to take it off to start it again. Hey, I don't care either - I just want it done! Love it! Sonny

It only takes a few seconds for a chainsaw to get to operating temps. Unless it’s extremely cold then what you’re doing won’t hurt anything.

Ha that's funny. Both my saws have a 3 position on off switch. 1 position is choke and after it fires you put it in the second position to start it. They tell you to run it in the second position for a minute to warm up the saw. The second position is half wide open and runs at a fast RPM lol. 2 cycle engines love to be ran wide open cold or hot lol. Run the snot out of them Steve lol. Good video! Thanks for sharing.

If you read the manual, startup procedure is to fire it up and run it full throttle for 30 seconds to warm up…. I’ve got a lot of saws from husky and the stihl and don’t warm up shit haha. The minor scouring you’d get if it even happens at all will be buffed out by friction “probably”. Only engine I’ve had to rebuild was on a husky 128ld weed eater and that’s because my dad can’t mix fuel for shit or runs it contaminated.
@DirtBrute
@DirtBrute 2 жыл бұрын
Good to know . I’m wondering how many people read this start up procedure? I know I don’t 😂. From talking to everybody around here they all say it depends on the gas mix . Thanks for watching!

don't personally like the anti kickback chains.I'm 40yrs in the business and want my chain to bite,not skid.always file gauges back a extra bit.I know how saws will react to confident to do this and doubles the cutting rate at least.I'm an Oregon chain man as well.still chains too tempered and the Oregon's are much easier to sharpen.stay safe and lucky and looking forward to trying this saw out.thanks.maddogdom.off grid.West cork.eire
