Husqvarna 525LS Strimmer-Does It Have Bad Fuel?

A customer brought in a Husqvarna 525LS string trimmer complaining that it wouldn't start and stated it had canned fuel in it. I'll show you that fuel quality was the only problem. #smallenginerepair

Great diagnosing. I just watched on some other channel with same symptoms and that its from a certain brand canned fuel. The blower ran poor while the 2 chainsaws with that fuel didnt even start. Great content as always. Thank you

I think the red stuff may be tru fuel? I just picked up 2 gallons of ethanol free at the card type gas station with no attendet type deal and a jug of red armor today! Good stuff!

Aloha Scott! What a coincidence that Chicanic also just posted a video about "bad" canned fuel, although she has mentioned it in the past. I have personal experience with TruFuel just not wanting to work in an old Echo trimmer, but used the same fuel in my Tanaka trimmer with no issues, just a different smelling exhaust smell. I always use Echo/Shindaiwa Red Armor, but thought I would try TruFuel to hopefully eliminate any issues with ethanol since I can't find any ethanol free fuel in my area. I'd like to note that the fuel you dumped out looked very dark and thus doesn't scream TruFuel, but it could be the lighting? Anyway, always enjoy the videos as I have been lurking in the background. I made it a point not to put a name to the "fuel" in the tank because it was so dark. At the time I just fixed the problem and moved on. Now I'm wondering of they mixed up some super secret sauce with canned fuel and stabil. Who knows?

@@TheGreasyShopRag I think you may be correct that it may be a mix as it did look very dark. I forgot to mention that there seems to be bad batches of the canned fuel as I am sure I used it in the recent past with okay results. Maybe a decrease in RPM. But I always has the fear of it not getting enough lubrication. Probably better that it didn't work out as it's like $25+ per 110oz (not even a gallon!) versus $6-7 for premium fuel and Red Armor. Have a nice, long holiday weekend!

I do agree if it’s too red, someone might have mixed it with stabihl. The ratio is perfect with just the oil. If you can’t even laugh about yourself then try harder. I’ve had those days too, where an imaginary hand moves my funnel. Take care, great video

I use the Husqvarna branded fuel and have never had a problem and never seen one come across my bench. Some other brands not so much.

Nice tidy workbench Scott! Great video tonight. I liked when you put the original fuel back in to confirm yor troubleshooting. I purchased a husqvarna 550xp ii yesterday and i love it! It's my first brand new saw as i usually buy used equipment

I Have Ran Across This 10 or More Times On The K760’s and Stihl 420’s and Even a Few Strimmers It’s Always the50:1 True Fuel Red

I have seen this scenario with TrueFuel brand a lot lately. I have used the VP and Red Armor brands with no issues but only for storage. If you can get non ethanol you really don’t need it anyway. At least when you get it at the pump (NE), you know that it’s fresh and not sitting on a store shelf for a year before you buy it.

My vote is that it was heavily spiked with STA-BIL fuel stabilizer.

I certainly looks that way. Stabil has a unique smell and I don't remember smelling it in this "fuel" so I'm not sure.

Ha! Did you and Brea (Chickanic) collaborate on this for today? You cusstomer's bad fuel looked pretty red, hers was more pink.

No collaboration, just coincidence. I wonder if that canned fuel I had was spiked with a lot of stabil? I've seen pure stabil in a tank before.

I get lots of blue fuel on units that 'won't run'. I'm not sure where it comes from but it's garbage.

I assumed it was canned, but I don't think we asked every customer what they were using for every unit.
