I don’t cut much wood and only do small clean up jobs. All I care about is that is starts and cuts wood EVERYTIME I need it to. My echo 4910 has never let me down yet. Before my 35cc Stihl has never not started either

...I always wondered why ALL the Poulan saws seemed to be open port?..(not talking about the Partner/J-Red derived saws or the Pioneer derived saws-all of which kick *ss)..if they had done some well-done closed port cylinders, the rest of the saws might have been just fine...

Both of those saws are champs!!!!! Very tight race there. The 61 is a great all around saw, had one and I regret selling it. The sound of the Poulan just makes me smile. I really enjoy cutting with that series of poulan. More fun than anything, they ain’t winning races, but they are fun to play with.

It’s really funny…after 12-13 years of porting practice I’ve learned how to speed them up…these past two years I’ve started playing with the old saw’s again and I’m not really caring about the cutting speed so much anymore as I’m thinking about their sound! Ran a couple old Homelite’s getting them tuned decently and cut some wood… grabbed my ported g372 and it’s so much faster through the cut but it’s also twice as loud it seems! The older slightly lower tone…slightly lower rpm saw’s are making my ears really start to appreciate chunking up some 16’s …I don’t really need to do super fast production 24-7… it’s enjoyable to spend some time running saw’s and cutting…I’m learning to slow down and look around a little bit @53… it’s more about enjoying what you’re doing I’m thinking????

Love the 61’s made my firewood cutting volume double …14 to 16 we were cutting everything we could… bought the old F100 to deliver… 16 started logging in the summer’s with it with my uncle jack! I want to find an restore a white top at some point… the white tops hold a special place in my heart! RIP Capt. Jack!!! ❤️🇺🇸💪. I’ll definitely grab a 4000 if I ever come across one…I need to move on the mint farmsaw but it’s been busy busy with work! 😳… steals saw play time!

My 4000 and 61 are really close in small wood but in big wood the 4000 eats the 61. Just my own experience with them. Great vids really good quality.

I acquired one Husqvarna 61ff a few months back. I got it as non operational/for parts, but as far as I can tell, only the muffler is missing, and the chain brake (the clutch cover is there, the brake spring is missing). If this is such a runner, I might spend a few days to put it together. The plate says made in Yugoslavia.

The poulans were probably designed to run slower because they were trying to meet some internally designated longevity quality test. That's how design engineers work, pass whatever testing is required. There probably was a minimum speed, rpm, requirement along with a longevity test.

I really really want to get a 4200!!!!!! The more I look at them the more I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on one. Great looking and sounding saws. 😁😁👍👍

👍the 4000 cylinders are kind of rare. Maybe pick up a 3700 cylinder and piston to experiment. Chrome cylinder on those as well as the 4000. I always thought that odd I take on them was designed originally for a reed configuration and they changed their mind!

Did I miss speak somewhere? They claimed it was 65cc, but in reality it was 63.5cc. So it's actually bigger than the Husky.
