Nice one. The power and overall quality of the 501/500exc never gets old and always makes you smile.

For the Husky having a 200% displacement increase while also being 500% more maintenance, the 250R is only 35% slower. Having factored in the maitenance and displacement difference, that's actually seriously impressive on the 250R's part.
@DriveOnLeft
@DriveOnLeft 2 жыл бұрын
True! Never thought of it this way. How did you get the 500% more maintenance? Oil changes on the 501 is every 1500km and WR250R is 5000km.

3 seconds is a massive difference. And after 100 kmh the difference will only increase. The WR250R is downright slow while the 501 is decently quick.

Where are you getting a 500% increase in maintenance? Every dirt bike needs oil changes and air filter cleanings/changes, whether its a yamaha or a husky. It's not like the Husky is made of glass

@@oldtownscouts3712 Well the wr250r has road bike bile intervals and its even good road bike intervals, 5000 km oil intervals and first valve check after 42000km. You dont count hours on this bike but kilometers/miles

WR250R - Best 50/50 dualsport ever made. Would be great to have a WR500R to compare (looking at you Yamaha!!)

Is the 501 uncorked? Apparently, there are kits that will open the bike and producing up to 70HP. No clue why anyone would want that type of power, but hey, it's there if you want it I guess...
@DriveOnLeft

No, it's standard other than a tuned ecu. For this I used the stock map though.
@scottyd2262

They won't get 70hp with those kits trust me. I have a 22 FE501 with more work done to it than what that guy sells, it's not 70hp that's for sure. Best Dual Sport Bikes (those kits are from him) he's a snake oil salesman unfortunately..

Do you think for purpose of dual-sport or adventure you will stick with 14:50 gearing on 501? I'm currently running 15:48 on a 450 and feel it's tight. I'm waiting on a 44 rear to test. Keen on some advice.

I guess your gearings is quite tall. 450 is a more aggressive bike than the 500 though. Stock in Aus I believe they come 13 - 50. Which would be great for tight trails. I went to 14 50 to give me lower revs on the highway, but still give me good down low torque. I agree feels tight, I always think im in 5th and try for 6th, but I am already in 6th! In Victoria our speed limit is 100kph, so I think ill stick to my gearing, if I was sitting at 120kph or doing some desert riding, I might go to 15 front.

So you lose dae more 3 sec intervals on the trailside with a temperamental euro princess than you do in speed shootoffs
