I've had this exact model now for 2 years. Bought it from SLE with the rollover bar and a sunshade. It's great, just be careful on wet grass, hills, and roots that push up around trees. It is my 1st ZT and I use it on about 3 hilly acres weekly during mowing season in SW VA. Sure, I've done some heart stopping wheel stands. Wear the seat belt and be careful!

I have the mz54 also. It’s very heavy duty, has more power than it really needs. Mine has the KOHLER engine. I’ve changed engine oil 3 times, in 4 years. The oil is clear. I’ve never seen anything like that before. I keep it greased, hydros full , tires up and clean. It’s a nice machine. I only use non ethanol gas . Castrol , high zinc non synthetic oil. Thanks for the video!

It's absolutely beautiful! When I had mine I didn't read to much of the manual. I just assumed that it was put together properly by someone that had the required experience.

I bought a Husqvarna mz5225 back in 2013 I believe. Great mower. I did buy mine from an independent dealer, but yours is very similar. After owning mine for about 9 years I can say I have not had any problems. One of the most underrated zero turn brands out there. Good luck with yours!

I just bought mine from runnings. Love this machine. I had the same issues. Loose bolts and the safety switch connector popped off first mow on the right steering arm. Went through and checked everything. It’s good to go now and I couldnt be happier with it. Also did you pay extra or is the rollover protection system bar come with it or did you have to pay extra??? Thank you in advance

The Hydraulic tank is not for checking-level. It is for overage when the hydraulic fluid is WARM. More or less an overflow tank. When cold, you will see no fluid in the tank.

the biggest difference will be getting service done on the machine, what we did when i was in the industry is when one of these came in that wasn't purchased at the dealership is push it to the back of the line for any service, there it would stay until we had all the units that were dealer purchased completed. when it got around to servicing the unit a junior tech would be assigned to the service.other than that the machine is no different but for some small cosmetic parts and by the way there is no prefilter on that unit.

Been looking at this ZT and it's come up to the top of my list. This is the only ZT in its price range that has a proper serviceable transmission. Even the Deere and Kubota mowers that are in this price range have those residential grade throw-away non-serviceable transmission units. It really seems like Husqvarna is giving homeowners a entry-level commercial grade mower here for residential prices. Can't really find a reason to fault this machine for the price.

I bought my zero turn husqvarna July 2020 and have 60 hrs on it. I bought it from Lowes. I’ve done the required maintenance on it myself because I don’t own a trailer or a truck to take it anywhere. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on my mower thinking that I wouldn’t have any problems with it atleast for a couple years. I didn’t have any issues last summer. But this season every time I go to use it it won’t start. I took the battery to have it tested and lo and behold the battery is already bad and I had to buy a new one. I still couldn’t get it to start so I had a mechanically inclined friend come help. He jump started it and I was able to mow. But every time I go to use it it won’t start. I’m not a mechanic and it’s really making me angry. I had a craftsman before and always has problems with it so that’s why I got this mower and now I’m having issues with it. Can anyone tell me why I’m can’t get my mower to crank and run like it did last summer when it had a few less hours on it?

Sorry, when you buy from a big box store likes Lowes or Home depot your caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to warranty work, Lowes can't and dealership won't honor the warranty, so you don't come out ahead with the big box store.

I purchased a MZ54 with the 23 hp Kohler in June of 2019, every once in a while it will not start and the problem is in the safety switch on the parking brake, by disengaging the brake lever and then applying it again it always corrects the no start issue.

@@herman5eight that’s such BS lol, if a dealer refused to do warranty work on a brand they are a dealer of they could easily get in hot water by the brand - they have to service it, period. How fast they take care of a box store buyer vs their own is another matter, but they can’t just refuse to service and if they did - simple complain to the manufacturer will shut that shit down fast

There are directions on the mower deck. Yes, there is a sequence to follow so that you don't do something silly. When sitting on your mower, look down by your right foot for the start up sequuence.

I'm not trying to be a jerk - just pointing out facts. If you buy a Craftsman, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, etc. mower from a big box store and not the brands dealer, you are getting a knockoff made by either MTD (Murray Tractor Division) or AYP (American Yard Products). They are all the exact same mower, with different color body panels and brand names on them. So, your "Husqvarna" mower is not really a Husqvarna. Trust me - I made the mistake of buying a "Husqvarna" tractor from Lowes!

I work at Lowe's and I'm going to be honest we hate mower season. We don't get paid enough to assemble these right and yes we throw away parts all the time because who cares. Can't tell you how many times we run these things through the back warehouse without oil because we just don't want to walk to get the oil.

@JROC734

@@kenithj76 agreed. I was disappointed in the Ariens/Gravely. I'm looking at a new entry level, commercial zero turn to replace my 2003 Exmark Laser Z, and was thinking I was going to go with the Gravely or Ariens, but I just wasn't impressed with them. They weren't comfortable, and their controls didn't feel as nice, or as well thought out. I didn't like their deck height adjuster either. The Husqvarna is actually very close to my Exmark in how it's setup, and feels. I'm not biasing Husqvarna even though I worked for several years at Husqvarna Outdoor Products where their lawnmowers are build, but the value of the MZ is hard to beat. The only other mower I looked at that I'm considering for even somewhat close to the same $ is a Kubota Z252, but it's a grand more than the MZ, and 2 grand more if you opt for the Kawasaki over the Kohler. The MZ already has a Kawasaki if that's important, but my Laser Z's Kohler has been great up until 20 years after buying it, and putting a ton of hours on it. Plus the Z252 is listed as highend residential, where an MZ is labeled as an entry level commercial mower. One thing I like about the MZ is it's an old mower. It was around when I worked at the plant that made them back in 2013/14. They are very well built, and don't have a lot of the goofy electric stuff that the newer mowers are getting that I see becoming a reliability issues sooner than they otherwise would if the mower didn't use them. Why do we need key fobs, and buttons on the hand controls, etc? Again I just don't trust these modern technologies that seem unnecessary on a lawnmower to not become big maintenance nightmares after a few years. My guess is the MZ won't be around much longer. Pretty sure Husqvarna no longer offers the entry level RZ zero turn, and the higher-end commercial zero turn they used to offer, the PZ has been replaced with a more modern variant which I was told doesn't seem to be as well built as the older PZ series. The MZ series was kind if just a smaller version of a PZ. They were very similar in any regards, but the PZ was built a little beefier with bigger wheels, and tires, bigger deck options, more engine choices, etc. BTW for these big dollar mower purchases I don't recommend Lowes, HD TSC, etc. I recommend using a Husqvarna, Ariens, Kubota, Exmark, John Deere, Hustler, Toro, etc dealer. Meaning a dealer that specializes in selling high-end yard products, and is setup to service your machine should the need arise. If you buy a shiny new mower from a large retailer that sells a lot more than just yard equipment, and after 30 hours of use you experience a major issue are you just going to take it back to Lowes, HD, TSC and have the experts in their service/maintenance departments that don't exist look at it and diagnose the issue? A smaller business that caters to outdoor products will give you much better service, and be on a much more personal level with you if you bought it from them than a large retailer. Plus they have way more knowledge about the products they sell, and are quicker to just cover the warranty instead of dragging their feet dealing with individuals who you've never met working in a large hardware store.
