It's crazy. This is a solo I've been chipping away at, and dreaming of playing since I first saw it in 2005. And for Eddie, it was just another night. Truly unmatched skill.

This is the very definition of FLOW. I saw VH on this U.S. tour. My high school guitar mates and I thought we were hot s***, then we witnessed EVH come out on stage in a simple yellow t-shirt, blue jeans and hi-tops and proceed to just absolutely DESTROY the old Omni in Atlanta. My cocky guitar pals and i (remember, these were the days of the 'guitar-slinger' mentality of the 1980's) were severely humbled after the experience and were speechless for about 3 days afterwards. Long live King Edward!! 🤘🏻

I must share in this feeling of inferiority after seeing this show in Worcester Mass. I was feeling pretty good about my playing, was in a good band and then I saw this and put down my guitar for months. I remember saying “I’ll never play like that”. I still don’t. But neither does Ed...

If this was in '86, then how could he play 316 in the beginning since it didn't come out until '91?
@hutchenbuzz5 жыл бұрын
composing a song and releasing an album is not the same thing. for example another VH song "house of pain" already existed in 1978 and finally just released on the album "1984".
@luchador4life3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, he's talked about how it was something he always used to play around with. But it wasn't until 91 he decided to break it down and formalize it. I believe it started as part of his warm-up. So who knows how is it actually is.

0:27 cigarette gets put on guitar neck 0:34 cigarette into mouth 0:54 cigarette gets put down on stage 1:18 cigarette back on guitar But didn't see where he puts it back into the neck between 0:54 and 1:18. Almost impossible but am I missing something or was this filmed on multiple nights? This may be dumb but I just assumed it was always one night, one take. Always caught my eye after watching this maybe 800 times over the years.

I think ED got tired of hearing all the Yngwie chatter and he decided to step up his game with this solo. It’s almost like he said to Yngwie try this one on for size. Eddie dazzled the audience with an array of skill and malmsteen was still stuck in A minor.
