The problem we face is that sometimes apples are too high to reach and too awkward to get too with a ladder. That is why we invested a little to get a telescopic arm giving over 2m of added extension to pick those apples high up from the ground.

Would be great to use something like that with the mangoes.. Might bruise them a bit but they'll still taste the same ;) At the moment we use a tree lopper with a container screwed to the handle just below the cutting head.. Cheers Huw..

Will this work for soft fruit like Figs? I cannot find anyway to pick them without ripping them in the process.

Looks great for apples! I have muscadine grapes and small persimmons that I need to pick and I don't think this would work for that.

If a fabric tube was substituted for the bag the apples could slide down into a bag worn by the pucker or a box and another person could be changing the boxes. This could release strain of weight in bag.

ripe apple is easy to tell. Just look at they apple wax ( it look like little white hair or fur). If the wax is completely gone from the apple. Then is ready to pick. That how I tell my way. But your way is good too.

Hilarious 2 twist method on 100 acres of apples.. It doesnt work that way in true farming.. Apples are taken and cut in half, then watched for sugar to turn the color of the flesh..
