I came across a good one. I had a service call on a Bryant Evolution 2010 2 speed heat pump. It was running when the system was completely off at the stat. Contractor was not pulled in and the compressor was running backwards as well. After a wile of scratching my head found the crank case heater was shorted out and sending voltage to it. Disconnected it and replaced it all was good.

I need to get a macro filter for the DJI, it's not designed to be used up close like this, the GoPro can do it and obviously my phone will do better but sometimes the action camera is just a lot easier to hit go because I could do it with the gloves on. I just got a hold of another KZfaqr that specializes in cameras and he's the one that mentioned using a macro filter. What's funny is is my DJI drone does unbelievable however I never record anything up close with it . Thanks for the feedback!

I've never seen a tube in tube where the evap is around the outside of the hydronic circuit. Here in Australia at least. Part of me thinks it would be more efficient with water outside, and less of a chance to freeze over with worn/ soggy insulation.
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 2 жыл бұрын
Usually it's the water on the outside but I think that's just asking for the problems I mentioned but Your likely correct about the efficiency because they riffle the refrigerant line usually to get better heat extraction.

Depends where you live and look at the year this was installed. In 1999, heat pump's then didn't compare to a geo eff. They still don't without spending big money on a inverter system.

I didn't know water just ran through those and away. Seems kinda wasteful that way. I thought the water ran in a long (closed?) loop to shed heat or cold as appropriate and then came back to do it again. I've never worked on or studied one, though. (I've only ever seen one.) If well pumps could be grateful for a reduced workload, I'm sure that one is!
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 2 жыл бұрын
Technically it's not a loop system, its coming out of the well and going out into a filed tile to drain away. Normally they are a closed loop system that recirculates the water over and over. I used the two types of loops interchangeably and I shouldn't have. Yes it's wasteful and not as common anymore.

These small systems are difficult to work on . Do they not have a Flow Switch though ? I haven't spotted it .
@HVACRSurvival
@HVACRSurvival 2 жыл бұрын
Generally there's not a follow switch on these but they do sometimes have two water pressure switches to verify the system has water pressure in the coil.
@sterlingarcher46
@sterlingarcher46 2 жыл бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival that's surprising to me , I would've thought they'd have at least a differential pressure switch in order to insure there's actual flow presence , not just water pressure . I wonder how they make sure to prevent freezing in case the pump fails or the valve shuts the flow off .

I really don't like the concept of an open loop heat pump. Unless the water is stored in a reservoir for house use (second floor storage tank or similar), you're just wasting water - especially on the coldest days where you can't use it for watering the garden. With a closed loop system, you can load it with low mineral content water (hire someone with a portable reverse osmosis system), and then have minimal issue with residue. I do appreciate the video - this is the first time I've watched a walkthrough on it.

These are not popular around here either. I only know of a hand full that I have worked on. We're not all out to destroy the Earth but a good portion of this regulation is about the power to control the people and manipulate the price of goods and services.
@SupremeRuleroftheWorld
@SupremeRuleroftheWorld 2 жыл бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival its funny because closed loop geo (both horizontal and vertical) is very popular and entire neighbourhoods are fully geo-pumped. its just that anyone caught with an open loop system you could bascially end up in jail or wish you were with tens of thousands in fines and losing your licences/business. i generallyt dont bother with them due to the cost of installing the bole hole or digging out the entire garden 10ft down. air/water is much more economical and less hassle and you can get insane COP's outside winter. my own air/water pump (with floor heating) gets well into the COP 6+ when its above 55F outside.

@FerralVideo
@FerralVideo 2 жыл бұрын
When working correctly, yes. Air source heat pumps need to contend with potentially cold weather, and lose efficiency and effectiveness when the air gets too cold. Ground source/water heat pumps have a pretty steady temperature of water going through them, so they remain effective and at optimum efficiency even when it's brutally cold outside. The main drawback is that they are extremely expensive to install upfront, and as you saw here, require more significant maintenance to run their best.

Think about taking a hot pot off a stove. What's more effective at cooling it off dropping it in a sink full of water or putting it in front of a fan. Plus a huge factor as Joshua said steady water temps helps tremendously

In the Houston area, I grew up with a air source heat pump, with supplemental electric heat. In general, the electric heat wasn't used more than twenty times a year, during the absolutely coldest days. The rest of the time, the air source heat pump was fine.
