Not necessarily. Pronunciation and intonation (what accents are made of) are usually easy for talented musicians and singers. It's the melody of a language. I interned as an English teacher at the school for the Vienna Boys' Choir. When it came to talking and pronunciation, they were way above where they should have been at. Range of vocabulary and grammatical accuracy are different beasts entirely. Seungmin is similar - excellent pronunciation and intonation but sometimes he slips up grammatically or struggles to find the right words in free speech.

I heard from other STAYs that his major in university is English. It's insane to me that some of the members are pursuing degrees while still doing music and idol schedules full time. But they're really smart to have something to fall back on when they retire from being idols.

Yes! He’s really good - he can follow what Chan says when he’s speaking fast with a strong Aussie accent, which is something not a lot of non-Aussie native English speakers can do. I think he lacks some confidence, but that might be because he thinks in Korean and then has to translate because he’s not speaking English all of the time (very common for anyone speaking a second language).

​@Meowmeow-jf9eh yes there are. I'm a native who can understand many English and non-english accents as someone who lives with foreign parents in America. But you'd be surprised with how many people I met that can't decipher accents.

​@ShineeSimp My husband is from Australia, but we are living in the US. He is constantly asked to repeat himself because people don't understand his accent the first time. It's even worse over the phone or drive through speakers. I usually end up being the one to order our food because they have so much trouble understanding him sometimes.

Awe I'm sure your English is wonderful, as you said, have the confidence and don't doubt yourself. Try not to over think what you are saying and try to speak at the same pace so it appears to be more natural.

Along with the assistance of Chan and Felix. Hyunjin is good at understanding and writing in english (I'm NOT excluding the others), I mean it 😍. He's come so far and I'm really thankful for his efforts...super thankful in fact 😊. Sometimes I feel really bad for not even considering of learning korean ☹️. It's selfish to be honest, one person putting in all the effort and the other is not 😔. I understand why engligh is hard. For example the words: they're, there and their, same pronunciation but different meanings. The word 'they're' is the shortened version of 'they are', "They're over there in the tree." simply telling that person where someone is. The word 'there' is a word to represent a place or object. "The microwave is over there" and the person points to the area where it is. The word 'their' this represents ownership, say "It's their coat" and gives the coat back to that person. Oh dear god...I just gave a whole lesson. 💀💀
