Editorial With Sujit Nair | Misusing Law: Who's At Fault? | Amit Shah | P Chidambaram

In this episode of ‘Editorial’, Mr. Sujit Nair discusses laws such as the UAPA and PMLA and their frequent use by the state to suppress freedom of speech and expression among the general public. He also examines the Supreme Court of India's remarks while granting bail to NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha.
The Court stated, ""There is no doubt that the remand application copy, which is supposed to communicate the grounds of arrest in writing, was not provided to the accused-appellant or his counsel before the remand order was passed on October 4, 2023. This oversight invalidates the arrest and the subsequent remand of the appellant. Therefore, the appellant should be released from custody, following the precedent set by the court in the Pankaj Bansal judgment,"" the Court declared.

Yes but we read newspapers and the newspapers were free to report anything n everything against the govt. No one was threatened. There was no misuse of power. All this started after 2014.

In the case of Indian democracy n jurisprudence the law makers use law to usurp power, but the Court takes time to get convinced that such a law is draconian, hence strike down.

It depends on how you use the word. If to condemn someone yes it's racist. If in general terms you use it to harmlessly describe someone how is it racist. South Indian are of a darker colour, it's that racist now. North Indians are fairer complexion.
