Kwiss ability to talk and play tekken is impressive

I believe the issue is that, everyone except the top 0,1% players struggle to play vs Hwo, he is fundamentally constructed to in that; the person defending has to work super hard to defend from Hwo and then, if he knows exactly what the Hwo player is doing, then the matchup isn't that strong but... I don't think that's a healthy game design

I perfectly understand that the nerf is annoying for hwoarang players and that it makes no sense he gets nerfed when these other annoying character didnt get nerfed who are better. But its just a fact that whether or not hwoarang takes skill, he is straight cancer to face. Its not some like opinion that hes cancer to counter, its straight up frustrating. The thing i hate the most about hwoarang players is when they try to justify their character isnt that strong to deflect from how annoying he is. But they still deserve to rant on twitter about balance changes

I don’t think using the excuse “there are other characters that do *enter move/advantage* better.” Is a valid excuse. If your character shares broken qualities just own it bro. Don’t misunderstand me, I love it. I love when characters have an identity. Wether toning it down or up is definitely up for discussion, I think the real issue are the outliers that say “fuck it, *I’m gonna play at you and there’s nothing you can do about it.*” like Alisa players. Piss an Alisa main off during a match by hitting her body at the end of a round and watch her turn into a dark souls boss. I legit feel like the counter play is not upsetting them. Don’t give them a reason to turn up on my dumb ass😂.

I seriously think that the devs can't balance Hwo. In the notes, they stated that his character performance isn't that good. It doesn't make sense that they nerfed Hwo and buffed other characters that were already very strong. I am not sure why the devs do this. Hwo is an incredibly difficult character to play. At least give him better combo damage or something.

When they said he doesn’t perform well, I wonder what they mean. He is a scrub killer so he definitely wins a lot at the bottom levels. And at high play, Hwo is so ignorant with the plus frames that even though he doesn’t do as well, I have to sweat a storm to deal with spam. I do think though it’s dumb how some characters were made way stronger or not nerfed at all

Why did they wait until now to nerf d3,4? It’s never been such an abusable pressure tool as it is now. Hwo spam has existed literally since Tekken 3. D3,4 has existed since tag 1. But not until Tekken 8 has his spam been THIS insanely oppressive. D3,4 very much deserves the nerf it got. It opens up so many possibilities. RFL+2 is an added move that works perfectly in tandem with d3,4 to create frame traps and added pressure. It’s insanely fast and near impossible to ws launch punish on reaction due to its recovery. Come on, dudes. We should all know why he got deservedly nerfed.

10:24 this right here rings so true for me as the guy on the opposite side of the matchup. B3,4 as a punish in t8 is huge bc the heat mechanic even existing. God forbid you do that power crush when you’re near a wall and I’m not only healing because a universal mechanic that buffs characters, but I also get a mini combo off it, further healing grey health because of another t8 universal mechanic. I absolutely would have preferred an -i13 change instead so that it’s not as brutal but still gets the higher damaging punish as the devs intended.

I understand Hwo takes effort to pilot, and have talked to plenty who don't have an issue fighting him but for me, as an Asuka player, I feel like I'm fighting for my life every time I face Hwo lol Between his mix ups, range, and options, I get destroyed by him constantly. I totally agree that other choices in the patch were crazy like not touching Alisa or buffing Paul.

i understand the frustration bc thats how it is with devil jin with nerfing him 4 times without thinking right. nerfed demon paw, the reach and tracking of the heat, and his heavens gate, nerfed hellsweep damage and ignoring the top characters. and hes not even that strong and cant get anything going for him unless you go for a hellsweep which is the only thing he can do and will eventually do. hwo and him got done dirty and i hope they get buffed in the next patch which is gonna be after 6 months to a year so im gonna be still enjoying devil but getting rekt until then.

I hear you Bros since Tekken 6; I have been playing Hworarang. Love the character! But, since Tekken tag 2, Namco has been dumping Hworarang game play down. Honestly, I’ve been playing with King for the last little while I think I’m just gonna main king and Jun(I was pretty pissed what they did to June last patch 1.04). Anywho, king is the funniest character! I’ve play with so far ❤. If you go back and look at Tekken 6 Hworarang, that was when he was at his best. He had floppy kicks down 34,and down 43 from both flamingo, stances, and Lows that you could transition into from flamingo that they took Tekken tag2; (in Tekken6 Hworarang and BAEK were kicking machines) don’t even recognize this characterr, anymore. It really does suck that he was nerd but oh well .. good luck guys. I’m just a casual gameplay as long as I can make it to Fujiin with most players. I’m pretty happy. Cya.

I'm not a Hwoarang player, but if I had a time machine, I'd go back to when they were developing him in Tekken 3 and have them change his whole gameplay design. Low and mid level players will complain about him no matter what, and top level players will always feel that he is too risky for the reward he gets. And we've all been on the receiving end of a Hwoarang mixing our shit. It doesn't feel good. I feel like tgat by itself is why everyone will always hate him

-14 makes heat engager punishable, it’s so bad! Never complete the move, otherwise you get huge punish. And since players know you should never complete they know you have to cancel and can interrupt.

If you are a Hwoarang player, to counter his d+3, 4 nerf is you really have to learn JFSR. Since almost everybody knows his d+3,4 move is nerfed, people are more tempted to crouch and JFSR comes in.

I feel y’all on your character but cmon it was a little delusional with Kazuya. Old Kazuya was so strong that nobody played him tournament (just like in T7) and he was the worse performing character online. He was clearly weak at both low and high level. Not to mention he had the hardest staple combo in the game that dealt below average damage and it wasn’t even consistent in terms of hit boxes. His classic tools were pretty good still but he was basically still T7 Kazuya but with way less damage and a devil fist. I really cannot understand how people thought vanilla T8 Kazuya was strong. Like who was he better than? Now he’s straight up strong though 🤷🏾‍♂️

Hwo performance is mid/high and other characters are getting away with criminal behaviour. How to fix it? Buff/don't touch the criminals AND nerf the guy that is mid/high tier.... make it make sense 🤷🏻‍♂️

Making his power crush -13 instead of -14 might have been a better change. But I feel like -12 was definitely too safe especially with it sometimes pushing back too far for 12f moves to reach. Alisa definitely needs to get gutted though. Her being good isn’t good for the game. She’s so boring and unappealing to watch.

I'm a Kazuya main. I understand you all too well. I'm glad he finally got buffed. I don't think Hwoarang should have been Nerfed. He wasn't an issue. In my opinion the only reason a character should be Nerfed is if there is no counter play. In my opinion Devil Jin and Hwoarang need some stuff. I didn't reverted. I didn't see anything wrong with Hwoarang. Devil Jin needed his Rage Art Nerfed. But not his Hell Sweep, He had bad hit boxes like Kazuya had. The only real issue with Devil Jin was his Rage Art. The rest didn't need Nerfed. In my opinion Hwoarang and Devil Jin need reverted. All Mishimas got there Demon Paw neefed. Thats fair. Hwoarang like a 5th or 6th pick for me. Kazuya, Jun, Jin, Ling Xiaoyu, King, Hwoarang, Armor King, Dragunov are my all time favorites. Kazuya and Jun are my all time favorites. Been playing them since Tekken 2. See Kazuya player sticking up for u Hwoarang players. I'm not the best with Hwoarang but I know it takes skill to play him effectively. Knowing his stances Just frame attacks. It's not easy mode playing Hwoarang. Trust me as a Kazuya player. We know all about Just frames, Wave Dash, timings spacing. That shit not easy. It takes skill to perform those tactics. Its not broken like people complain about. Try doing it. Then try doing it on line. Years of practice to make it look that good and easy. In my opinion Hwoarang is easy to play in low level but in higher levels you'll see he's not as simple as people think. I understand u bro
