I had to google it, yes she’s 90 born in 1929. I didn’t know Richard/Clive was younger than her either. He died earlier this year at age 82.

My brother did actually something like that, when he bought a new kitchen. He smeared ketchup and maybe more stuff on the tiles he intended to buy, to be sure they could be cleaned. I doubt me sister-in-law was wearing a hat and an apron (and a deathly stare) when they were testing the tiles haha.

Absolutely hilarious, this has to be my favourite scene ever in the series, because it's bonkers but eminently practical, what better way of testing a kitchen surfaces finish than smearing food on it, the cake mixture was the best! I love the way she does it as well, like it's the most normal thing ever.

OMG "Keep Up Appearances" is just the best British comedy! Patricia Routledge was great in comedy. It's too bad she doesn't do any other physical comedies. Brilliant actress and comedienne!

@@elizabethh776 She is now in her eighties and lives near where I used to live Chichester West Sussex. I believe she does "readings" on the stage at Chichester Theatre but that all now. Sadly old age creeps up on us all. She was/is a very very talented lady, so glad the Queen made her a "Dame" well deserved.

Hyacinth is what we use to refer to as someone on a real ego trip. She is funny. Who every wrote this series did a brillant job It is so excellent, I love the show and so does my older family members. Thanks to AZ PBS we have been getting this show for over 15 years. This is one episode I had not seen. Poor man she just gave him a heartattack.

Merk so he'd be 84 today. Roy would be 85, or was when he passed... strange isn't it? Roy Clark was one of the greatest and most under appreciated musicians in American history. Poor Mr. Lucas! What he wouldn't give to try to push this customer off to Mr. Humphreys, though Mr. Lucas was more junior in ranking. 😂😂😂 I'd love to see how Mrs. Slocombe & Miss Brahms would handle Hyacinth's surface-testing shenanigans!
