I work on vehicles for a living, and to say that the price of maintenance is cheaper for electric vehicles is absolutely a lie. First off you can't take your vehicle to anywhere for work, most mechanics do not have the knowledge of how to work or or even have the software to plug into these vehicles, so now your limited to go to a dealer or very expensive shop. Second is electrical systems are crazy as hell, one poor ground could cause the entire vehicle to act crazy, or one bit of corrosion could ruin something very very expensive like a battery. Third is sensors, and they are expensive, can be a nightmare to diag, and hard to get when they commonly fail due to national backorder. We experience these things on modern vehicles, so enjoy when there are no nuts and bolts, and it all requires a electric vehicle tech to even attempt to look at your vehicle.

@@arthaschen4701 by the way, we are already looking into hydrogen because we know that electric will not take over diesel, and I just saw new engine designs from Cummins for hybrid diesel/hydrogen engines. The 6.7 and 15 will both be upgraded, guess why? Because ev isn't viable. I was required to become certified in ev under supervision of the on sight ev tech, and the amount of warnings is ridiculous. Wyoming also just set up a ban on electric vehicles within the state. They can't be sold or charging stations set up. Ev's are a trend that's already going out of style.

I love driving an EV and I’m 50/50 at the moment as I occasionally have to drive to Scotland and N Wales. I know chargers are getting better but on a commute recently I was driving home weather was awful and pulled in the services where 2x EVs where waiting for a charge slot so that would have been 2hrs of my life gone. Personally I think the latest diesels are cleaner than petrol and you can get 5-600 miles on a tank. I can fill up in 4 mins and be on my way.

Re the diesel vs. gasoline, I'd suggest trying to read some serious posts from scientists or credible sites to decide what's actually cleaner. Diesel has a bad rep for good reasons, and things like "clean coal" etc. are basically scams, re the underlying thing still being dirty, polluting, etc.

Then there's finding the charging station that will work with your car they're not all universal. Based on a horrible EV infrastructure in the US I vote for Hybrid. EVs are really cool if you have $80K to spend on a commuter car that you don't need. The car technology is there but the infrastructure is decades behind the cars. No one ever talks about the millions of charging stations that will be required and the energy (fossil fueled) it will take to power them. How about being forced to take 4 to 6 hour charging breaks when you travel to Chicago or Boise? No one thinks beyond the end of their noses. How about this for a conspiracy theory. The government wants to limit the mobility of the "folks" because that makes them much easier to control. And what about when they tell us a brown out is necessary to conserve energy. We, the folks, will be stranded in our unheated, uncooled houses until "Big Daddy" says its okay to go out. No real scientist in his/her right mind will tell you that solar and wind can replace fossil. It will never happen and they don't even plan on it happening. That's not the goal. If they meant it we would be turning to nuclear like sane people. The technology is there and it is tested and proven.

And the UN is already a failure The 17 agendas of sustainable development are written but no one is interested after it's problem. Petrol car is much cheaper and gives,6 times better milege. I really want the long range but until the new tax credits are put in place I'm holding out. Given the current non Tesla charging infrastructure coupled WITH the Tesla charging network road trips and range anxiety is a thing of the past. One could buy an EV that get 200+ miles on a single charge and be fine considering the average daily commute is between 30 to 60 miles and the fact most people can charge at home or at work....or stop one or twice a week at a public charger. Now if your current lifestyle isn't going to work with an all electric vehicle then you might be in the market for a hybrid or at least trade up toban EV when you're ready.

@@EK-lp8od Sorry, but if you have not realized yet, that there is NO other way than either NOT have ANY Car, or have an EV.. then you're outdated! You do not even need to have a Wallbox, that is just an added comfort ! We have a lot of public chargers available even when there could allways be more.. in Switzerland we do have for sure multiple Charging points in less than 1 km Distance! But anyway those ppl who own multifamily-houses rather get going with installing Wallboxes for each parking Lot they own in the underground garage! There is really no longer any argument to think about using a petrol car! we would not even know where to go driving 400 km ? yeah 20 km to go to the workplace maybe each day.. but that would last for 25 days without charging LOL

@@CurdinGees74 we should go fully hybrid first then electric. electric cars are still not fully there yet. they are in their beta stage still. charging times is still far too long for our modern economic requirements. also battery acid kills battery cars over time. hybrids are great because you can take and replace the battery every decade or two while keeping the internal combustion engine separate well maintained. making them sustainable for far longer then battery cars that will fill landfills far faster due to their shorter life span. also fuel efficiency with modern hybrids are really good. one fill up can last you a month. in this department it will only improve. it will get to the point in the coming decades that one fill up of an hybrid car will last you months possibly even a year. it might make fully electric pointless. the electric battery/charging motors in these things are getting really good.
