I will not be as thorough as I was for Hyde for the rest of the cast. I've mained him close to 8 years now and his new voicework stood out to me way more than a lot of the others. If you honestly told me UNI2 was the prequel and the first voice set was new, I'd believe you.
For me, it's the lines for 6B, 623B, 22A/B, [FF], and Raging Roar that got hit the hardest. I don't know if Ryohei Kimura was told to sound more casual with his lines but Hyde sounds 2 years younger than he was before. At least the yelling part of his lines were okay, it's just that there's much less bass and bite to the voice now.

You could argue that Hyde has become more experienced with his powers and/or that 3 months of getting to know like 2/3rds of the cast has made him drop the tough-guy front he had going on in the first game. Hyde has definitely gotten more resolve going into the Final Night than he did the first big Hollow Night but I don't think stronger resolve should necessarily mean more casual. The stakes are frankly bigger here and even his win lines confirm this new resolve and determination but I'd prefer his deeper intonation than this new one. I think the new song renditions offer a better window into the smaller character growths than this. I don't hate it but I can't say I like it over the old one either. I would trade for the old lines in a heartbeat

Tbh I think your guess in the description is right on the money wrt telling the actor to sound more casual Looking at his moves, attitude, and early story materials, it kinda shows that Hyde was originally meant to be much more of a chuuni edgelord protagonist (I think Ragna was even cited as inspiration at some point), whereas since the release of Chronicle Mode and all subsequent story stuff, they seem to be really leaning into the "Dorky Normal Guy Stuck In A Weird Situation" angle, particularly with his dialogue, so that might be why the change came about

@@garytaylor8193I genuinely need to see more anime that has their protagonist act like how Hyde does. Most of the time, when the protagonist gets into supernatural shit they just treat it like some everyday occurrence afterwards lol.

It's really funny how much he is like ragna. Starts looking like an edgelord then end ups acting like the only normal guy in the game. Thats why they are both goated.

Sometimes I feel like his voice is more aggressive for some points but most of the time in UNI2 I feel like it’s less aggressive

I think difference is the first is hyde just now starting out with this whole fighting thing. By the time of the sister celes its been apparently like 3 months(something like that) he used to fighting and he's not some kind just swinging a sword around

Honestly, SC Hyde sounds like he was struggling to say Raging Roar. I like that a bit more. Correct me if I'm wrong, it did mention using the insulator felt like his arm was gonna rip off.

After playing with him for a little bit, I've grown to like it. but yeah it could've been better. Ryohei really trying to sound younger fun fact: They reuse some of the cut lines from the first UNI and revoice them for UNISC. for Hyde it's 2 of his KO lines, His match win, and some of his attack grunts

I like some of the new voicelines but I think I prefer most of the old ones. However, I do really like how his new Raging Roar sounds more aggressive (along with the rest of the cast and their infinite worths). As much as I like the old line, it always missed a certain _punch_ to me.

I had the same issue with BBTAG’s Japanese Hyde. I believe it’s a combination of voice direction, age, and audio. I been noticing it since early BBTAG beta. He’s sounded extremely light compared to his original portrayal in UNI/ UNIEL.

I like the voice lines in Uniel all the way to Uniclr. But Unisc actually made Hyde sound more heroic for the next night to stop Kuon. He sounds very committed to his role as the Unknown Actor in the Night without Linne's help in his arcade, going solo.

im not that upset at the new voice direction but i just really miss the old ones. i still hear the old hyde in some lines. still a good performance though

not related to the voices at all, but i feel like the overall color grade and contrast for uni2 is less vibrant than uni1. which sucks, cuz i felt like uni was always visually very pleasing to look at, and colorful without being unreadable. the stages definitely feel more like 'backgrounds' now, less like real locations within the city. idk. very subjective, i know.

Overall, the audio seems less... muffled? While the overall direction and tone is different, the lines come across more crisp than the original game.

I’m 50/50 split on the new voice lines. Some characters like Merk and Yuzu sound way better and others like Hyde and Phonon sound way worse

@@DeepestDankestI hated Yuzu’s voice in the old game so yeah anything that’s different is automatically an improvement in my eyes. As for Merk he’s supposed to be this crazy fucked up monster man and he sounded WAY too normal before imo, glad they finally gave him a cool voice.

Honestly I don't care, either voice is good to me because Hyde is my main and ma boi. Besides we've been hearing the old voice lines for over a decade so it's understandable that most of us aren't used to them

I like the redo. Especially the "BURAKU ORBITAH!" and "GAIYERU VORUTEKUSU!!!" Though the first one's Raging Roar was better.

Especially the actors they hired to play the characters. Kyle McCarley who plays Hyde in UNI is Sag-Afra. French Bread would have to pay for a Sag-Afra Contract. They would have to pay for not only Japanese actors. But get in the others from English cast And HIRE new actors for all the characters who had not had a English dub yet. Characters like: Wagner especially who haven’t gotten a English voice yet. The only reason BBTAG got one was because of Arc System Works .
