There's more. Will he ever stop? I hear you ask. Today I stuck a few more bits into the top cover of the old 165.
No paid promotion here, I just found a source of the old MF service tools that you need for this job. Excellent quality, reasonable pricing and made in the UK.

Great video, I absolutely love these videos on the 100 series Massey as they never broke my heart unlike a David brown

Glad you like them! This 165 is exactly the same as what I learned to drive on so it's actually quite important to me too.

Another great video Clarence I was fascinated by our mechanic rebuilding the hydraulics on our 165 years ago he had all the genuine MF tools a did it like it was second nature 👍

It isn't actually that difficult, but having the correct tools, particularly the gauges, takes the guess work out of it. Thanks for watching.

Hi, can't ever remember using a normal piston ring compressor for the piston, think churchill made a chamfered guide which compressed the rings as you pushed the piston into the cylinder, one special tool that every farmer will already have is the baler twine to hang the weight on the control arm when doing the settings.

And a 3 pound hammer to hang on the end. Thanks for watching.

Do you know if they're reproducing the setting tools?
@ClarenceFudWeasel
@ClarenceFudWeasel 2 жыл бұрын
I think his intention is to reproduce the entire catalogue of special tools eventually. I have ordered a MF.272 ram arm gauge from him which you will be seeing soon.

What did you decide upon for the 175 ? I thought about £7000 to restore
@ClarenceFudWeasel
@ClarenceFudWeasel 2 жыл бұрын
As soon as the 165 is finished, I'll be making a start on it. I have collected quite a few parts already. Wheel and front axle parts are proving hardest to source. I think your estimate won't be far out and around 100 hours of work.

@@ClarenceFudWeasel i used to restore TE20s, they often proved very surprising and all were never the same in costs usually around a months work and as much as £2500 at the time i restored them
