The points of failure are pretty interesting. Measuring "double-cuffs," the kinky cuffs failed at the locking mechanism almost immediately (by design), the Russian cuffs failed at the chain, the American cuffs sort of warped until the locking mechanism no longer gripped anything, and the plastic SWAT cuffs also had a locking mechanism failure. Then comparing the "single cuff tests" America and Russia were much more evenly matched

So, sumarizing the video: Plastic handcuffs are more resilient if you apply force like that, but if you apply less force, but with more speed, the plastic one breaks much easier. Also, USA handcuffs are super expensive for nothing, because the job of a hancuff is not to tow a car, is to just imobilize someone, and noody can exert 400kg of force being a human being, so the russian does what is expected.

Thing is, most things are cheaper in Russia than they are in the United States or Western Europe. 2 possible factors: (1): Labor costs are lower over there in Russia, (2) Russia's GDP per capita is, like, 1/6 of the US's so people, businesses, and governments in Russia make a lot less money than they do in the US, on average, so businesses can't raise prices like they can in the US. There may be more causes that I don't know off the top of my head.

Any difference in strength when handcuffs are double locked? It locks cuffs from getting tighter. On the S&W, you use the back side of key and slide over little doohickey in narrow slot that passes through each cuff near key hole. On Peerless brand. (what I carry), you push in on a tiny hole on narrow side of each cuff base.
@TROOPERfarcry2 жыл бұрын
That doesn't add strength to the chain, nor to the cuff itself. Point in fact, if you look at 4:12, even though the test is still on-going, you can see that the bracelet could be swung open as there is no engagement of the teeth of the bracelet at that point.

Those loading values from the hydraulic press is higher than the tensile force applied on the handcuffs. The actual amount of force on the handcuffs in your setup is hydraulic press force multiplied by the distance from the press load application point to the left support and divided by the full length of the lever arm. So the handcuffs actually fail at much lower loads than represented in this video.

It doesn’t matter the strength, when you have your hands cuffed in your back, it’s literally impossible to free yourself, because of the position of your muscles. When you done the second test with the cuffs, did you engage the Double Lock? Dosent look like it would make a difference with the Russian cuffs since the bow bent first, but the S&W looked like the Pawl may have failed. The Double lock may have provided some support and made them a little stronger 💪. Intresting experiment tho
@martinkuliza2 жыл бұрын
Re the M100 Double lock it wouldn't matter because the ratchet of the handcuff cam off the teeth in the lock. the double lock merely doesn't allow the teeth in the lock to move down when the double lock is enabled, even if the key is inserted and twisted, it's like a chock at the bottom of the teeth to stop them from springing down and releasing the rathcet since the teeth on the ratchet separated from the teeth on the lock, the double lock makes no difference The double lock doesn't add to the strength of the cuffs, it just adds to the security of picking them because they can be picked with a hair pin or paperclip very easily , but.. unlocking that double lock with the same tool is extremely difficult if not impossible the double lock makes no difference
@Deadlocks862 жыл бұрын
@@martinkuliza to me it looked alot like they jumped part way open, then stopped again. Like the pawl had been forced out the way and then it seemed to catch again. If the DL was in the way that would be less likely to happen because the pawl would be held in place. If the bow was pulled away from the pawl, I would agree 100% that the DL would make no difference. The only way to find out for shure would be do the test again with the DL engaged

Even accounting for the physics of the lever halving the force on the cuffs from the press, both still require atleast 500lbs of force to open, and distrubuted across that half centimeter with cuff surface you would probably chop off your hands in the process. (Joints are very flimsy, even the bones probably couldn't take that much force/pressure on them) Good news is it takes about 40lbs of force to escape the toy cuffs in an emergency, which isn't unreasonable to achieve, and very simple by "snapping" (impacts create a momentary spike in forces, useful for getting a peak load above what you can do for sustained load. This is basically the entire mechanism behing hammering nails into wood) alternatively find a way to put your full body weight on them and you will easily exceed the necessary force. As far as escaping real police cuffs, best bet is to have the key or a bolt cutter, but good luck with either while being arrested.

As a person that's been cuffed. Those American cuffs you have are like a civilian available thing to buy. The real ones cops use aren't chained, more like hinge linked...
@martinkuliza2 жыл бұрын
well then that shows how little you know about cuffs "Those American ones" as you call them are SMITH AND WESSON M100 M100 Means it has a chain and a chain specifically that swivels, Cheap handcuffs with a chain will not have a swivel function and thus when you are handcuffed (Assuming you have enough tolerance to pain and enough adrenaline is running) you can twist your wrists , lock the chain and use leverage to break them hence why there is a swivel designed to not allow you to lock the chain and break it beyond that, The tensile strength of the chain is hardened (you can saw through chain if the chain is in a vice and it'll take you around 20mins of solid sawing, i know because i've tried Now THE HINGED ONE'S YOU REFER TO are called Smith and Wesson M300 M300 Means you have a hinge The benefit of a hinge over a chain is that if i'm arresting you i can grab the hinge while you are standing and twist down and force you to get on the ground, vs if it's a chain and i do the same thing , you can twist your wrist and break my fingers then of course you have M450 M450 Means you have a chain but it's a larger diameter of handcuff, Used either as ankle cuffs or handcuffs on islanders (YES, ISLANDERS ACTUALLY HAVE HANDCUFFS SPECIALLY MADE FOR THEM) now.. Call that racism if you like because black people do not have handcuffs specially made for them, make your own conclusions but that's what M450's are Now regardless of M100, M300 or M450 ALL OF THEM ARE USED BY POLICE OFFICERS and are professional grade cuffs it's true you can just wander into a gun shop as a civilian and buy them , but they are for professional use then of course, you have Saflok's which are also used by police the difference is M100, M300 and M450 have the same key and they have a double lock feature, now the cuff is fucking easy as piss to pick, (Assuming you have a short ridged piece of metal like a paperclip or hairpin THE CATCH IS.... Unless the cop doesn't have a fucking brain , he will double lock the cuffs and the chances of you picking that while in custody is slim to none however if you were in a pub and someone cuffed you behind your back and gave you a paperclip and bet you $100 you couldn't and you were given all the time you needed, ASSUMING YOU HAD A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THE CUFFS LOCK, You might stand a decent chance of winning that bet the advantage of having a key that suits them all is when you have a person in custody and you need to hand them over to another law officer , you can lock and unlock each others cuffs, which is handy in the case of saflok's it's a completely different key and you really need to have a saflok key to unlock those cuffs again, all of these are used by police, so YOU SAYING THAT THE M100 ARE PISS WEAK AND JUST FOR CIVILIAN USE LOL......... IS SO FUCKING FAR FROM THE TRUTH IT'S NOT FUNNY I understand you've been in them AS A FACT... SO HAVE I but in saying that, have you played with them for over 100 hours..............I HAVE Have you ever owned a pair and picked them just for fun, then locked yourself up and couldn't get out but had to figure it out...........I HAVE so mate, no offense you sound like you've been arrested, but you don't actually have good knowledge of these cuffs, and .. that makes sense, because it's not like a cop is going to say , ok, now before i arrest you i want you to know that i'm using Police grade handcuffs and here is how they work i reckon all that you learned about handcuffs is THAT THEY DON'T ACTUALLY STRETCH AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF WEARING THEM FACT Cops use the one's with chains M100 very commonly cops also use M300 (hinged) Less common Prison officers tend to use M450 more often when a cop encounters and islander , instead of having to get M450 all the time, they just use those Cable Tie handcuffs that zip on and are bigger than M450 and they are disposable
@@エズラマイルズ Really ??? THAT'S the longest comment You've EVER Read ? LOL well that says a lot doesn't it i always find it funny how people focus on the length of a comment as opposed to what is actually being said and then you the TLDR crowd who (as fucking dumb as this sounds) they will literally refuse to read it BASED ONLY ON IT'S LENGTH LOL fucking dumbest thing in the world. and then you have the sub branch of TLDR people who say they won't read it , but secretly they do LOL but they'll take that little fact TO THE FUCKING GRAVE anyway mate, my advice, stop focusing on how long or short something is and instead read it and learn what is being said

@martinkuliza2 жыл бұрын
@@jaquigreenlees ok, well, 1. No offense but i don't really care if you will or will not continue to fight with cops, it's not even relevant here to this discussion, it's a dumb decision all around, i mean.. hate them if you want, by all means, but the system is specifically set up to beat you down the system has Power and Money and Military and Police control over the civilian population.............. NOW.... You on the other hand DON'T . if you were to EVEN ATTEMPT to beat the system you'd need in excess of 500 Billion dollars nett worth and then you'd need an army (one that is larger than Australia's) so like i said.... it's not a smart idea to fight them . 2. as for M300's well they get referred to as a lot of things, Silver bracelets being one of them, fact is they are not specifically made for riot situations and in riot situations THE PREFERRED METHOD OF ARREST is to use those Zip Tie Cuffs, they are cheap, they are effective and let's be real, no one wants to lose a $300 pair of handcuffs, even if they are issued to you you still are responsible for your serial number just like you are with your firearm so if you've heard it reference that way then ... ok but they aren't made to be riot cuffs, but hey no one is saying you can't use them as such i mean ... fuck, you could use rope in a riot situation and call it Riot Rope LOL

Можно перекинуть наручники закрытые со спины вперёд через ноги, вы не знаете как это сделать?
@SurikenTSD2 жыл бұрын
