With the help of a hydraulic press, we will check the strength of the spider web rope. Will it be stronger than steel and Kevlar rope?

for a serious test, only one branch of the rope must be put under tension and without knots, hooking it with special jaws.
@luhaarunk30859 ай бұрын
You should add a thermometer (infrared or whatever) to record the temperature of the thing that you are pressing. Would be a nice addition. I'm sure some of the knots (kevlar) would have become hot.

Only problem i had was that the rope wasn't tied the exact same way for each type of rope. Differet tying techniques can make part of the rope either stronger or weaker.

Also, steel was on a single strand. All the others were loops. So steel result should be doubled.

How does that play any role? None of the ropes broke at the knot. Even if they did, spiderweb wins by miles.

The steel test Is not comparabile as single Rope vs double for all others. Anyhow.. the spider Rope Is really interesting but It takes others tests for complete evaluation vs othersaterials

Yes, he should have tested steel as a loop. Nobody else seems to have picked this up, apart from me.

Insane. Here I was impressed with the climbing rope.. I wasn’t aware Kevlar and Spiderope existed. Awesome comparisons. I can only guess how many times he thought tying more knots would be enough until resorting to steel clamps.

Great video on how to NOT tie a rope. How to NOT use cable clamps. Also the wrong way to use a clevis!!! lol Knots weaken ropes, cable clamps DO have a correct way to be installed to protect cable and add strength and a clevis is never side loaded.

Inconsistencies in your sampling. If you're going to experiment and post results, all samples have to perform under the exact same scenarios. i.e., you need the same knot and securing devices for all types of rope. Same torque on all the bolts, same length of rope, etc. You get the idea.
