Today we're going to install a set of Hygear Torsion Spring Spacers on a 2020 Skidoo Renegade XRS 900 Turbo.
Torsion spring spacers add preload to the rear torsion springs, increasing it's preload and effective rate during compression. The spacers will help set your sleds ride height properly and increase the efficiency of the torsion springs.

Hi and thank you for the video, straight forward and relatively easy looking .I just got a 23 and purchased some 2.6 custom torsion springs from accelerated technologies inc. as I am a large man 6' 7 & 350 . You have given me the confidence to do this myself. My only question " do I need lock- tight anywhere "

Hey Paul, Thanks for stopping to check out the channel and I’m glad with the video you feel confident to do the work yourself. 👍🏼 That’s why I try to be as detailed as possible when I record the videos, so more have the confidence to tackle the work instead of waiting on and paying labor at the dealer. To answer your question, just add blue loctite to the two main link arm bolts that attach the arm to the tunnel brackets. Just a quick tip.. When you are reinstalling the two skid bolts and the link arm isn’t lining up perfectly with he hole which sometimes happens, you can do one of two things. You can install the two bolts in the tunnel brackets before installing the two torsion spring mounting bolts through the sliderails or run a ratchet strap around the torsion spring and up to the center shock shaft and slowly ratchet the torsion link arm forward till the holes lines up. Reason I mention it is you’ll be running stiffer springs and sometimes with the stiffer springs when you bring the torsion arm up to line the hole up to put the bolt in it’ll be towards the back of the hole and won’t line up. If you have any question just let me know 👍🏼 Take Care

@@jimdaniels3542 There are definite upgrades I would make if you had to choose only a few upgrades. Skid plate, Ice scratchers, DuPont Vespal slides are well worth the money. I know your having your sled studded and to me that’s a must for safety reasons. If anything the studs are proven to stop the sled quicker and if you come into a icy corner the sled is so much safer. Can’t wait to hear exactly what you get for upgrades once the sled comes in. 👍🏼

@@jimdaniels3542 Those are some of the upgrades I’ve made to the last three of my sleds. GPS mount, Mid height windshield w/mirrors, LED headlight upgrade, Vespal slides, cable scratchers, studs, LinQ and 1+1 seat mounts. I’m more than likely going to upgrade the shocks on the new T-cat to Elka stage 5 shocks. I’m dissapointed that the Fox QS3 shocks don’t come with rebound adjustment. That’s a huge plus for controlling the small to medium stutter bumps. When I’m done hopefully I can get the T-cat to ride like the R-motion rear skid. I’m not one to just ride my sled factory stock. I like to adjust for my comfort, as you can see by my dual rate spring upgrade to the XRS. Now that sled is the best riding, handling sled I’ve owned..

Hey Adam, Thanks for stopping by the channel to watch the video.. It’s appreciated. I did notice a difference as I was running the torsion blocks on #3 and turned them back to #1 after installing the spring spacers. Now you have to take into consideration this is all based on body weight and rider sag. I weigh 180 lbs without my gear on so take that into consideration. Secondly you should take a measurement with the sled sitting after pulling up on the back bumper and letting it settle for static sag. Then sit on the sled with all your gear on, have someone measure again in the same location you first measured from, the sled should now sag about 3 - 3 1/2 inches for proper sag. If it sags more than 3-3 1/2” you’ll need to turn the torsion spring blocks up till you get that measurement. TAke CAre

Hey George, Thanks for stopping by to watch the video. It’s ok that this is an old video, I still try to answer all the comments or question’s when I can. I agree that the cable scratchers are tough to keep hook on the slide rail. If you want to continue using them you’ll probably need to look into some form of mount to hook them on. All my group has since moved away from the cable scratchers specifically for this reason and we now use the Skidoo Tunnel scratchers religiously. Yes the HYGEAR spacers will work with an upgraded HD torsion spring if you choose to go up with your spring rate. Take Care and THINK SNOW❄ 🤙🏼

Hey, looking for a little guidance. I have a 2021 Renegade XRS 900T - I am contemplating purchasing the HD Torsion springs as I'm around 260lb's and probably close to 300 with gear + bag/gas. Do you think these spring spacers would be a good option to start? My biggest worry is that by going to the HD Springs, I will have a much stiffer ride than I want. If you don't mind, how much do you weigh(with gear) and what do you have your torsion spring set to when stock vs. with these spacers?
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow Жыл бұрын
Hey Dewan, Thanks for stopping by to check out the video. I weigh 185lbs plus about 35-40lbs in riding gear, plus I ran the two 17L tunnel Linq bags, (Whatever they both weighed). I used to run the Q/A spring preload on around #2. After I installed the Spring spacers I ran the adjustment alittle over #1 setting. IMO the Torsion spring spacers do work at making the springs more efficient in what they do and doesn’t require as much preload on the adjustment knob. That being said, with you and your gear being around 300lbs or so you might be a good candidate to move up a spring size.. If it were me, I would call and speak with John @ Accelerated Technologies and tell him what you’re looking for and give him your weight. You might need to go to the HD springs but… you might only need to go up one size spring, not to the HD spring. John has all that information per your weight and riding style and has numerous springs. Check his KZfaq video out from John: You'll understand more.👍🏼 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sM2Zh5qcnMzYgGw.html There are spring tensions between stock and the HD springs. I honestly would give him a call and he’ll typically give you an answer within minutes. If he’s busy, his wife Jen is a guru at figuring out spring calibrations as well. Take Care and THINK SNOW ❄❄

Do like those cable scratchers better than solid ones?
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow Жыл бұрын
Hey NuManXplore, I’ve used the cable scratchers on my last two Doo’s. They’ve always worked great for what they’re intended for but they didn’t go with out issues. I just hooked them on the slide rail and one side always seemed to fall down all the time which was annoying. My recommend would be if you’re going to use them I have two suggestions. Purchase something for them to hook onto when not being used because the will fall down if you don’t and.. ALWAYS !! Remember to lift them up if you’re going to cross a steel deck bridge. 😩 I made that mistake once and one of them hooked the bridge and bent the carbide tip straight out and I had to purchase a set of replacement tips because you can’t buy just one. Other than that they work well if you don’t mind drilling into your rail. I have a new Thundercat this season and I wanted to try the Skidoo Tunnel mounted scratchers as my buddies all; swear by them. So we’ll see how they work this season. Take care and thank you for stopping by the channel to check out the video. 🤙🏼 THINK SNOW ❄

Did you loosen the track prior to doing this?
@SometimeIsNow
@SometimeIsNow Жыл бұрын
Hey Phil, Thanks for stopping to check out the video. 👍🏼No I didn't loosen the track before installing the spacers because you're only dropping the rear of the skid and not removing the track. When I removed the rear skid to rebuild the shocks I did loosen the track so the skid comes out easier over the internal lugs. Everything went quite smoothly on this upgrade. If you do run into a issue where the bolt holes don't line up and are off about a half hole rearward just run a ratchet strap around the torsion sping and run it up to the front cross shaft or front arm and ratchet the strap little and it will pull the rear arm forward until the holes are aligned to get the bolts back in.Take Care
