I bought several Hygger products over the past few years, mainly because they are affordable, but I am impressed by the quality. I've got a Hygger light similar to yours (but smaller for a 20 gallon), and I've got a Hygger submersible light that I attached to the underside of my tank lid on another 20 gallon. They're both really good lights, but I don't have any high tech plants either. I agree about the blue lights, I had to switch to white lights because I was getting too much algae.

I have 2 of these lights and another Hygger light and I have been happy with them. I grow some high light plants and simply keeping the light on for 12 hours a day keeps them growing well. The only issue I had was with the power brick in the style you have broke over time. However, my newer Hygger light and the replacement brick are a different style that take up less space and appear to be better quality.

Nice review. In general, i believe Hygger makes excellent value aquarium products. I am a fan of them. I especially like their heaters and lights.

I use the same light on my 55 gallon. High tech. On for about 12 hours a day. My plants seem to be doing just fine. Although I may get a 2nd one just to see if more light does even better. I would rather not spend an arm and a leg on a fluval light. Already spent an elbow on the fx4 canister hahah.

Good comprehensive review. I have a couple of these lights in my fish room. My big "con" is the 6-10-12 hr settings. Why not an 8hr setting??? It would be way more used than all the others combined!

Best video yet on this light, showing not just the unboxing but actual use of this light. I also have this light and love the 24/7 but was having algae issues. Others on social media have said it works fine for them in the 24/7 mode and grows plants well! I switched it to 50% white light for 6 hours but then found the plants were not growing much. Now have it up to 75% white light for 6 hours but listening to you it sounds like you might have it at 100% white light for 6 hours? I am wondering if the lights you also have over your houseplants that have roots in your aquarium is helping with the actual aquarium lights to help grow the aquarium plants too?

Thanks, glad it is helpful! It’s at 100% full spectrum, can’t adjust individual color brightness on this model for 6 hrs. The Riparian plant lights are high above the tank and there’s really not much extra light coming in as you may think.

Heya I was having algea issues as well. Turn it on full spectrum at about 80% intensity. If you Still get a lot of algea after 2 weeks, drop to 70%. Gotta find that perfect balance for your tank.

I see a lot of people getting those 200 dollar plus high intensity lights, but they end up having to dim them because algae is growing crazy.

Really nice informative video. Also what do you use for your aquarium lids? Your plants seem to be going strong for two years so I’m assuming your lid probably disseminates light well.

I just wanted to say thank you. I have the same light and feel more knowledgeable after watching your video. My tank is the weak version of your tank. (With the Black Skirts/ Widows). I have the similar plants. I think the tank is getting too warm. It’s 78.6. What degree is your tank? I’ll to send a pic

The largest ribbed leaves are Brazilian Pennywort (they grow very easily BTW). The slightly smaller/smoother leaves are Frogbit (I had less success with them)

I use led spotlights they are much cheaper, have good durability and are easy to install. They keep even the bad pantas hard as the Eichhornia crassipes, Even though this plant needs a lot of sun.

@@plantlifeprojectThey are led spotlights, I use 2 of 50w in a 140 liter aquarium, my plants are high tech and even so the led spotlights are making them grow very well.

For clarification, are you saying that I can set the auto timer at 9am AND use the timer to choose whether it turns off 6-12 hours later? And then going forward it will automatically turn on at 9am and go off at however many hours later you set?
