@Aisha Noor I’m sorry but what does hyperemesis have to do with being black? Hyperemesis doesn’t care if your black white or brown just like cancer or diabetes. Shit like that tears us together as people and it’s disappointing, I live in a dirt poor area and when I look at my friends I don’t see black brown or white I see good honest people just trying to make it. Anyways it’s all women not just black, me and my wife (we are of Hispanic descent) miscarried because they thought she was “overreacting” and wouldn’t give her the proper care and attention she needed.. now she’s 3 months pregnant again and we’ve already gone to the hospital twice for IV Drip, even after explaining it to them they think we’re hysterical or something or that it’s not a big deal.

Hey, hope you are feeling better. I went through the same thing last year. I discovered that magnesium helps a lot. I even ended up gaining some weight in my third trimester. I was still throwing up everyday but like 3times or less unlike the first and second where it was over 30 times. Take some magnesium. I was on bed rest the first 6months cause of HG. Also, if you have some gossipy friend, it’s time to invite her over. For some reason, they have the ability to drag you into their drama, that you forget about your sickness. I have HG I'm only 9 weeks and brushing me teeth makes me throw up. ALL SMELLS make me throw up. I CAN SMELL EVERYTHING FROM A REALLY FAR DISTANCE.. Anyone cooking makes me throw up. Tv, noises make me throw up. I cant even be on my phone for more than 5 minutes. My ENTIRE body hurts EVERYDAY. I have excessive saliva i can fill up like 20 cups of saliva a day because if i try to swallow the saliva it makes me throw up EVEN MORE. I FEEL SO MUCH FATIGUE been in bed for a whole month. I feel like I'm dying slowly. If I dream about food I wake up and throw up. I can't DO ANYTHING. I CANT EVEN GET UP TO GIVE MY DOGS WATER N FOOD. NOTHING HELPS. Pills 💊 the ER gave me help for a few hours n then BAM DYING AGAIN. NO ONE UNDERSTANDS. WATCHING THESE VIDEOS ARE THE ONLY WAY I DONT FEEL ALONE. THANK YOU HG MOMS WHO BRING AWARENESS. it's True the Doctors DONT EVEN LISTEN. They don't give u the EMERGENCY HELP you really need. They force u to wait and wait for permission and appointments and blah blah when you're actually dying. It's sad that HG has little attention because it's Rare. I wish I could punch everyone in the clinic who tell me to wait for this and that. The worse is when your personal DR. Tells you "well if you continue to throw up, just go to the Emergency room" brush u off like you are crazy. Wish the system was different in California. HG is as serious as Cancer yet no one really treats it that way. ALL HG MOMS ARE REAL HEROES STAY STRONG MOMMAS . I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH AND YOURE NOT ALONE. STAY 💪 STRONG. XOXO MUCH LOVE. I have this condition, wasn’t diagnosed until I went to the ER. Because I couldn’t keep anything down, was extremely lightheaded and depressed. Vomiting 12 or more times a day. Doctors wouldn’t listen to me, most don’t take me seriously, I’ve been losing weight. I think im slowly gaining the weight back. Im about to be 12 weeks so I still have a while to go. My OB doesn’t even listen, nobody does really. I take nausea medicine daily, it barely does anything. I can’t even do the multivitamin IV treatments anymore because when I went in for my first treatment it almost killed me from anaphylaxis, I even felt contractions starting I was so scared my baby wouldn’t survive that because I knew I was about to pass out and I couldn’t barely breath at all. Thankfully I was very lucky to have the nurses close and get immediate help and attention and eventually the stomach cramping stopped. They even called my OB and I’m angry my OB hasn’t tried to see me yet since the incident, because it can be dangerous for the baby because it deprives oxygen. I don’t work I literally can’t, I don’t even leave the house but very very rarely. I usually order food or groceries when i get low because it’s so hard for me to go out. I’m at a low point, I’m so depressed, stressed, this sickness has taken a toll on me mentally, and physically. Sometimes I just want to give up, but I try to think about the end goal and it helps me motivate myself. Barely pushing by day by day. And I also don’t have an income, even when I tried to get a job I was rejected because I was pregnant. I’m new to the state of California, trying to figure out how I can make a little bit of money. I’m just scared at how this whole thing is going to play out, trying to stay focused on the positives.

Getting IV fluids every week also helps. I had sea sickness bracelets on 24/7 and would take Zofran consistently 3x per day, if I missed a day i immediately got worse. I also recommend taking a strong vitamin B supplement that includes both folic acid and B6 (should help with nausea). Lastly constant snacking! The nausea and vomiting gets so bad when you’re hungry so try to eat whatever you can. Don’t feel bad or guilty for not eating good quality food just do what you have to to get through ❤️ Remember you’re not alone and eventually it does get a little better ❤️ I’m now 32 weeks, I thought I’d never get here🙏 I still feel nauseous all the time and still throw up everyday but not like it was in the beginning. I can’t wait until I get to the doctor Tuesday. It’s my first pregnancy and I’ve lost 10 lbs since I found out I was pregnant LAST WEEK! Almost 8 weeks and it has been like this since week 4. Can very rarely eat, can’t sleep more than 2 hours at a time, wake up and go to sleep with the worst nausea. Can’t work because I’m so weak. I take my vitamins just barely without vomiting. I want to be a healthy mommy and enjoy my pregnancy. Hope my baby is doing okay. I’m doing my best. Most women just brush it off when I say how sick I am but my mom has heard of this and understands. Edit: I got diagnosed and was hospitalized for dehydration at 14 weeks. Id lost 26 lbs total. I’m almost 16 weeks now and am on Zofran, Reglan, Unisom, and B6. The combination has definitely made a huge difference but I do have to take it regularly. I Can finally function and eat although it’s still uncomfortable to eat. Really was hoping I’d feel better naturally since I’m in the second trimester but no luck so far. Edit: Almost 12 months pp, and here we go again. 7 weeks pregnant (unexpectedly, I was on the mini pill), my 1st appointment is today and I will not leave until they put me back on Zofran. Hopefully I get no push back or issues. It’s just as bad if not worse than my first pregnancy. Sometimes it’s better the second go round for some, but definitely not in my case. I’ve lost 10-15 pounds already once again.

This is my second HG pregnancy. I just found out I was pregnant, and the symptoms of it, were my first signs, to take a test. Purposeless fever. Nausea. Slipping and spiking BP, around the vomiting. Hunger but also nausea. I’m not afraid. But I’m apprehensive. It’s been 8 years since I had my first child. Maybe I don’t even remember properly, how bad it was. But I remember being in the ER for fluids every week, or so. I remember 26 ultrasounds. I remember sonograms on both of our hearts. I remember my kidneys struggling to keep up, as I already have 2 types of kidney disease. I remember the only thing that helped me, was High doses of CBD, THC microdoses, and they gave me suppositories at the end. Coca-cola syrup. Sprite syrup.

I suffered 2 HG pregnancies and the 6th month was the worst.. I vomited from week 6 of my pregnancies until giving birth -> daily. Many days about 20 times per day, it was a NIGHTMARE! I had no life at all during my two pregnancies - I wasn’t a human being, most of the day in bed, suffering, vomiting, crying.. After my first baby I hoped so much that I wouldn’t experience this again, but I had the same symptoms during my second pregnancies too. I lost much weight, I had to change my nutrition, nobody could help me, no doctor knew what I was suffering from, only my midwives tried to help me, but nothing helped. It was unbelievable. I was completely lost - the feeling is like suffering an extreme hangover ever single day of your pregnancy! Today I know that the hormone progesterone is responsible for this..

This is what ive had for all 3 of my pregancies . im in my third right now and having HG plus that depression is the worst. I feel like im dying , im weak and have no energy or happiness in me . Like its hard to explain to people who think its just a little throw up....NO its so so real , makes you feel like your not in your body. By my 3rd im a pro and know what triggers me to throw up and time out when i need to eat and make sure i stay awY from certain colors that will make me feel sick quicker. Its crazy! I figured out after my daughter and having to go to the ER during the first and second trimester that weed helped me. Just a little bit , it took away the sickness feeling for a while and acctually made me hungry for something. I STG if it wasnt for that id seriously be dead becauss i threw up all the medicine they would give me. And the hunger pains are the worst ! Its like someone is stabbing you !! Im 14 weeks in with my first child, i’ve gone to the emergency room to get ivs & fluids because the vomiting has made me so dehydrated. I work as well in fast and it is very very difficult to work. I’m lucky if they allow me to sit down during my shift when I ask. A lot of the times my medication does not work either. Ive taken ondansetron and promethazine for mine. Im praying at some point I get better because it is making me depressed and feel like not being pregnant anymore 💔

I brought this up with my doctor as a possibility. I just made it to 15 weeks. She started me on infusions and all together with infusions, I am on 9 nausea meds. This is my second child that has made it to 15 weeks, and I knew it wasn’t normal. My first pregnancy was easy breezy, this one, I have been hospitalized twice for already. I get all of my vitamins and nutrients through the infusions. I just had a picc installed for this, as they were running out of veins.

I am not convinced that it’s genetic as I was the only woman in my family with such a severe nausea ( nobody in my family had it at all). It was absolutely awful for me and never ending story. However, I am glad that I went for a second one, and I would go for third if not for Covid apocalypse. I don’t think it’s good that doctor is scare mongering sick mothers that babies can be harmed, as the pressure on them is already too high. He also mentioned it can cause the autism. My mother worked in the center for autism, and nobody knows the cause. Apart from me, I only know one woman with such a severe sickness, and her daughter (now 10) is super smart, my both kids ( products of an awful sickness), have never been sick, very strong, healthy, beautiful and smart. So, those dark prognoses are something that should be left out.

I am currently 21 weeks and had HG from about week 6 and ongoing. It was a complete nightmare I couldn’t wake up from. It was absolutely terrible landing me in the ER various times and I lost 26 pounds couldn’t even keep water down. No prescribed medication helped UNTIL I entered the second trimester and could take steroid hormones. Completed a 21 day treatment as a last resort and it actually worked! It allowed me to stop vomiting and I began to slowly eat and drink more fluids. My doctors let me know it has some increased risks but more so in the first trimester. Medication has never helped me but this changed my pregnancy journey. I still have occasional nausea and a strange relationship with food but nothing compared to how it was. I urge that if you are suffering with HG that you consult with your OBGYN about hormone steroids.

I spent years desperately trying for a baby (even sought expensive fertility assistance) and still I seriously considered aborting the pregnancy because I couldn’t handle being so unwell. I had Hyperemesis gravidarum with both of my children. I was denied any medication on the ground that they could be dangerous for the baby. During my first pregnancy, it lasted about 6 months then it started to subdue but I never got rid of it. With my second pregnancy, I braced myself for the same type of suffering, however, it never stopped and I found myself delivering my little boy, full term, still vomiting. I used to weigh 50 kg, but by the end of my second pregnancy my weight was nearly 40 kg. I am Italian but I married an Englishman, Who, being a RN Officer, was never around. My in-laws never heard of such a condition and put it done to me being a "wingy Italian". On top of that that they lived more than 300 miles from Portsmouth. My parents were in Italy and I had a little toddler to look after. When my in-laws dropped by to see their beloved firstborn Grandaughter Helen, they smoked with no retention, aggravating my condition. I have to thank my health visitor, who seeing the situation sustained a very harsh conversation with my mother-in-law and arranged for me to be admitted to the hospital to be rehydrated rather than leaving me alone. She also arranged for a childcarer who took care of my first baby for the entire time I was in the hospital. My GP failed to diagnose my condition and left me to fend for myself. Just the fact that one person has not experienced hyperemesis gravidarum, there is no reason to dismiss it as an exaggeration of a mild symptom. It is awful. Moreover, no one has a reason to smoke (I am a non-smoker) in the house of a mother-to-be as my garden was fully available. No one has the right to ridicule a suffering woman with nausea, vomiting and "Braxton-Hicks" contraction only to leave her in the hands of a healthcarer saying to her "You know...she is Italian, she is bound to complain about everything" .
