For fresh produce and meat, just go to a wet market...its cheaper.

That meat is sitting in the heat for longer than it should, I’d be careful with buying meat there ….go very early in the morning if you buy meat there.

it's not just wet market because it has dry goods too such as rice, flour, household utensils and so and so I think you mean public market or palengke

As I advise most foreigners trying to get the lowest grocery prices in PH, …. try going to the local public markets in PH where the ordinary Filipinos shop. They are called ‘ palenkes’ or Mercados where the meats, vegetables and fruits are cheaper than in air-conditioned mall supermarkets. The local public markets are usually lower by 30% to 50% than mall supermarkets . Foreign branded products are usually more expensive than local brands, so try the local brands. Happy shopping.

Not really. Groceries not that difference but fresh products wet markets are just 10-30% lower.
@rickb84232 ай бұрын
@@griefer1851 Agree palengkes are about 10~30% cheaper than malls but you have to come early for any perishable goods.

we buy our fresh produce from the public market known throughout the Philippines as "palengke" palengke has fruit and vegetable stands, fish and meat (chicken, pork and beef, mature coconut stations where they extract for you coconut milk, rice, eggs, flour, soy sauce, vinegar, chili, calamansi if you decide to check it out bring along a local as it can be overwhelming to the senses. Filipinos go to groceries too but only to buy those that they cannot get from the market mostly milk products and frozen foods.

Bottles of soft drinks are a lot cheaper there than US. Very expensive in US for soft drinks. Cooking oil is only thing that’s expensive there. Most prices are cheaper than US.

SM Hypermart is a bit pricey although it is nationwide, there are other malls or supermarkets with low retail or wholesale prices in the provinces.
@griefer18512 ай бұрын
This is hypermarket not hypermart. Prices in this grocery store is already cheap and those stores from wetmarkets also wholesale here for grocery products.
@jabais1252 ай бұрын
@@griefer1851That's what I mean, it's hypermarket! It's kinda typo error! But nevertheless it's the same meaning.😅 Hypermart is a large discount supermarket or hypermarket whichever you prefer to call it.😅
@iloveplumpgrannies1742 ай бұрын
Not really different from wet market prices, in fact some meat products are cheaper sometimes. We prefer to buy at SM supermarkets, its cleaner, less crowded, more organized, and it's air-conditioned. We're not rich by any means.

S&R and Landers superstores are equivalent to Costco in the Philippines. They also sell foreign products you can‘t easily find in standard supermarkets.

those prices are absurd 2 cucumber for 100 + ? you can buy 1 kg for 80 t0 90 or even cheaper 50 pesos in public market 😂😂😂 or if you want more cheaper than public market go to bagsakan it is a place where farm fresh harvested commodities sold which you can buy at a farm gate price which means more reasonable than public market

Ummm just to correct you, you are not in Manila, Philippines, Manila the capital of the Philippines is west from your location. You are actually in Pasay City, the right word would be Metro Manila or National Capital Region. 😉
