so, what are your thoughts so far on the xp30? I'm fighting with either the 45xp or the 30xp air. You also mentioned you travel all over with it? What line of work do you do that would require you traveling all over the world with it? just curious. Also, can someone make a living offering mobile cutting services with a machine like this?

Eddie Regory Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I travel all over taking down seed and grain handling equipment, such as seed cleaners, bucket elevators, gravity tables, and many other machines. These machines we buy and resell once they are rebuilt it is a very specific field. I can't recommend this machine if you are going to be cutting more than 1/4" material often. It will do 3/8" no problem but insanely slow compared to the 30xp or 45xp l primarily use it for cutting sheet metal, hopper bins that hold grain, or stands off of equipment and lots of cat walks. Most of the facilities we go to to remove equipment are old wooden structures with highly flammable trash and other debris. The plasma cutter shoots much cooler sparks than a torch which we also take everywhere with us for a heavy cutting when possible. Once in California Missouri the person who built the facilitie cobble fabbed the entire plant together. There was a four post grain tank with 30' posts that had five cat walks, three other grain tanks, five elevator legs, multiple grain down spouts air ducts for dust removal all welded to it. This was just the third story the second story had more cat walks, safety ladders to the third story, the same elevator legs were welded again on the second story and more of the same on the ground floor all of the commingled mess was load-bearing. So you had to remove and cut five things to remove the one thing you wanted. Needless to say it was a nightmare. I was burning through 3 large oxygen tanks a day with the torch and then having to run across town to swap them out. That's when I call my local ilmo in Illinois and said get me the 30air coming with two full rebuild kits for the torch head. As for a mobile cutting business I can't say I have no experience in that field.

The idea of these units is great, but like he said, real world tests don’t lie, spend the extra and grab a 45, you’ll never have buyer’s remorse. Now if ur a manager in a plant and don’t use it everyday, go for it, it’ll last u forever, but wen ur on job site trying to get equipment back up, it just simply isn’t enough, if ur in a hurry you’ll be mad.
