The short film ‘Through the eyes of a refugee’ documents an extraordinary project in which five people are brought into a state of hypnosis in order to make the journey of a Syrian refugee. Under the guidance of a professional hypnotherapist they experience what the 29 year old Marwa had to go through to reach safety in The Netherlands.
Marwa’s journey began in April 2015, when a missile struck the house that she lived in. Her little brother and sister were killed in the attack. Her village was bombed for months on end. After another brother had fled, Marwa followed suit and decided to try and find a safe haven in Europe. She embarked on a hellish journey, during which she faced death on several occasions.
Created by Amnesty Netherlands.

I am writing a paper for one of my courses and this has given me a new perspective on many aspects of my life and the life of refugees - this woman is incredible and I hope she is getting all the support she needs to help her fulfill a long, happy and safe life.

Thank you for doing and posting this experiment. It is hard for people to understand something what they never experienced before, but people will get an idea of what it means for a human being who went through the war. Watching this I had a good cry!!! It reminded me the time I was as Albanian mother of two small children during the war in Kosova. What a horror it was. Even though 22 years have passed since then, memories are as fresh as if it happened yesterday. May the world see no more wars; and those who experienced it, may their heart be in peace. My heartfelt wishes to you all!❤️🌎🌻🇦🇱🇽🇰🇨🇦

Reading some of the comments here show how the internet is filled with trolls. That was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever watched. Even if this particular example is staged, the things he describes are happening. If, after watching that, your first reaction is to doubt it’s validity or the validity of the story it is telling, then you need to have a long conversation with yourself.

Should be obvious and a hypno video unnecessary for adults but most have the reasoning of children. Refugees aren't just people hoping borders and YOU could easily be one.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist/Psychotherapist of 20 years, yes this is correct, yes it is an amazing healing tool. Perhaps do some research before making yourself look so unintelligent in your pointless comments.

I intuitively couldn't see any sense in guiding people into a traumatic incident by hypnosis, especially excluding a necessary therapeutic context. It wasn't their biography. - There are other and better ways to make people understand and feel. A documentary or movie for example or anything else, but not an experience in hypnotic state. I absolutely dislike it !

One does not simply do politics based on feelings. Politics must done with logical thinking. While under hypnosis your mind isn't fully on your control, so should we do political decisions under hypnosis? What comes to the subject of this hypnosis and if you are saying that it is fact, 99% of refugees coming via Mediterranean sea are looking for better life and left their own country because of poverty. If you don't believe me, just watch those refugees, yhey have iphones on their hands. Next subject for hypnosis should be that kind of scenario, where you are walking in the park at evening with your kids and suddenly group of islamists, who came as refugees to Europe come to you and beat you up and your kids.

I think it's pretty ironic you're saying not to generate political decisions based on feelings when your last sentence reveals strong feelings of paranoia and hatred against a really massive group of people, as if they're an amalgamated singular entity of awfulness...

You have to learn how to read between the lines. I put that sentence on there that people would realize how stupid this influencing general opinion with some hypnosis is. At the same way this video generalizers that all refugees are here because of their houses have been blown up as the scenario created by me, where group of refugees attack locals without a reason. Yes, some of refugees houses have been blown up, but not everyone and yes, refugees and foreigners are over-represented on crime statistics, but not all refugees and foreigners do crime. Facts should go both ways, not just took those "positive" facts and ignore all negative facts.
