Thank you for the explanation. I suffered from hypokalemiaia when i was in high school. I noticed first my legs were weak. The second day it got weaker, and by the evening. I felt like completely paralyzed. The dumb doctor first said I have blood cancer, then they run some tests and found the issue. My potassium level had dropped to 1.8 at that time.

I had severe rhabdo twice -Aug 2016 & March 2017.. drs couldn’t figure it out esp since it was body wide and quite severe plus my blood potassium was 2.3 - which they said with the amount of muscle destruction my blood potassium should’ve been dangerously high.. I started seeing a different dr in March 2018 after 6 hrs of nonstop seizures in ER.. he made a clinical diagnosis of bartonella infection and started me on 3 antibiotics.. seizures reduced within a few weeks and stopped after several months.. I had gotten a tick bite in NY plus many tick bites here in Wisconsin growing up in the country but no other drs believed in persistent infections from tick diseases. My wonderful Dr saved my life. He retired a few years ago. I have never fully recovered but as of earlier this year per Igenex test I am still testing positive for 2 uncommon strains of borellia, 2 uncommon strains of babesia, and 1 uncommon strains of bartonella. Persistence of stealth tick infection is real and the medical community needs to admit it and learn how to help us. I feel like my life was stolen from me

I could not move my legs , arms, couldn't stand without help, could not sneeze, or drink fluids . Horrible, I went to the hospital, obviously they didn't know and I suffered after sitting in a wheelchair for 5 hours before getting a cut scan. Horrible experience, 4pm to 11pm in this condition. 2.5 potassium levels.

Same here. My phone rang one morning, and as my mind told me to pick it up, that is when I realized I was paralyzed. I was terrified. My hands were clenched and couldn't open them.... could not move arms and legs. It was like having a muscle cramp in my whole body! I was admitted to hospital and put in the ICU for several days, then an extra 8 days on a regular floor. They said my potassium was so low it was almost undetectable and I would likely have died that day if I had not gone to the ER. In my case it was brought on after a 7 hour surgery where much of my intestine was removed. So any nutrients I consumed were not absorbed by my body. As you know, it is VERY scary. 3 weeks later and I am still having problems with my legs (walking) but I'm improving. Magnesium was also very low....and this made all electolytes off kilter. I had no idea lack of potassium will kill you!

@@KatMartin-si4pl the treiog nurse was sarcastic to me when I asked could they get me somewhere to lay down. I was in the hospital waiting room watching people come and go. I told the treiog nurse I could not stand and I was in the wheelchair for 6 hours and I couldn't stand and stretch, she said well the muscles are part of the human anatomy. People like that should be fired ,that's rude. Then I went into the exray room I told the older lady I can't get on the exray table, she oh no don't say that ,because she couldn't help me to the exray and she may have to put me back into the waiting room for more waiting after 6 hours, took 8 hours to get seen. My potassium was at 2.5 , don't know about magnesium. Hypokalemia is what I suffered from ,was in the hospital 3 days. All muscles shut down, the heart and lungs are muscles, they should have seen me faster.

@@patroll330 Oh wow! I know how much pain you were in. I literally could do nothing but cry. I can't believe they made you get on he table! When I was in the ER they came to my ER room and put a plate behind me since I couldn't move. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. If it ever happens again (God forbid) CALL 911 and go by ambulance. They took me in right away and to ICU within an hour. It is a VERY dangerous thing and 6 hours is enough time to get serious FAST. I hope you are doing well now, and please take care ok? Have a blessed day :)

@@KatMartin-si4pl I called the hospital and reported that , they didnt care. I saw many Medicaid patients with a sniffle coming in and being seen. They were giving me a hard time because I mentioned I fail in their parking lot .it took 3 people to help my rubber legs onto the exray table. People can be cruel , and heartless. I couldn't believe the rudeness , I even had a pair of nurses working there that bullied patients. My fluid wasn't coming in and caused a buzzer to come on they would complain because I didn't ring the nurses button. Asked for water and 40 minutes later, I said nurse I have been waiting a long time is it going to take a hour to get water . The nurse said you don't have to act hateful. Well I was being honest maybe it sounded hateful but I was being honest. I sure would hate to be in a hospital there's some very crappie people working there , but kind ones too. People who mistreat patients shouldn't be tolerated.

@@patroll330 Good for you! That needs to be reported. They get paid to do these things...that is what they signed up for. As for them saying a patient has an attitude, well when you are sick and in pain ANYONE would have an attitude! It's a shame. I have had a few experiences like that, but for the most part, the nurses where I go are wonderful. I go to Ochsner in New Orleans. Been in the hospital more than home for the past 6 years with everything from cancer to kidney disease...but I'm still here thank God. The next time you need to go, use an ambulance to get there.....you will see the difference. Wishing you the best!

I’m going to the ER today or tomorrow. I had a GI appointment on April 8th. I have Crohn’s disease that has been out of control for over a year, I’m losing weight every other day. Everything I eat comes out in diarrhea, my intestines are completely unable to absorb any nutrients from foods and I believe drinks as well. My doctor called me and told me to take 2 potassium tablets and just drink a lot of OJ. It’s NOT helping. He said my potassium level was 2. Something. Down from 3 30 days ago, it just keeps dropping obv from the Crohn’s. My arms, hands, and lower legs and feet always are numb and tingling. My hands are cramped up and every morning I wake up my eyes are twitching like crazy and this morning my mouth is contorted into a bizarre shape, my face looks very very strange. I’m so scared. I already have a mild qt interval and a suspected heart murmur, everyone’s saying when they’re as low as me they have trouble breathing, palpitations, and some ppl have had heart attacks. I don’t know why I’m not having the trouble breathing and heart stuff yet, but I know that’s next. So that’s why I’m going to the hospital today or tomorrow. It’s unreal my doctor sent me home and not right to the hospital. I clearly have Hypokalemia and very bad! I didn’t know they had potassium iv treatments and other emergency solutions for this, oh no, just go home and drink OJ that your intestines can’t absorb any of the potassium from anyway. I wish I could sue.

Yes you can when you go to the doctor or the ER let them know that you feel like you're probably low on potassiumwhen they draw your blood it's something they normally check for him but if you voice a concern they'll make sure to look for it harder... I went yesterday for asthma problems and found out that I had a 1.9 levelthought I was having an asthma attack when in actuality I had no potassium or iron in me they gave me potassium while I was there it made me feel extremely better and then a strict diet of things that I can follow and eat much like the stalker's other video but go to the doctors and we can get a test on how your potassium levels are when they draw your blood

Look into a RBC potassium test. Many doctors do not test for a red blood cell potassium. They only do serum potassium because they are either ignorant and/or cheap.

What affects your body function is the level of potassium circulating in your blood-- not the level inside your cells. That is why potassium levels are checked via a blood draw. This is the standard BMP or CMP that is normally used to test potassium. Why do you think you may need a special, rare test of some sort to test the potassium inside your cells?

So this is going on in cats with CKD since later I. CKD they could get low potassium. Poor cats. If Misa ever gets really low potassium I think I might have to put her down because 1. Animals don't understand of why they feel this way. 2. This looks so painful

Can you help me solve a years long problem. My mother has severe crams in legs that wake her up at night. She tested her magnesium levels and they are more than the norm. When she tries to add potassium, they seem to actually get worse. Every time she eats bananas or potatoes (chips) her crams are worse that night. I love naturopathy and i did so many research. So far, nothing is working. Do you have any thoughts? If her magnesium levels are good, and bananas ate causing more cramps ? I really don’t understand...thank you 🙏🏻 Edit: she is good health, except she takes high blood pressure meds

This might be a solution. I was taking amlodipine Besylate 10 mg and I was cramping so horribly I didn’t want to exist anymore. Maybe her doctor can switch her to a different prescription if she is taking amlodipine besylate. What helped me with the cramps but I don’t know if it will help her, is I took keto chow daily minerals that were approved by Dr. Berry on KZfaq it’s a liquid mineral from the Utah Salt Lake that’s purified. But if minerals are causing the problem maybe that won’t help you but I think you should look into her medication. Sometimes all the side effects are not listed on these blood pressure medicines and you have to search really deep to find the rare reactions.
