Your videos are so helpful. I lost my mom on October 22, 2017 and I am currently in Nursing school and I ask God to help me through so I can finish successfully for me and my mother. hey, love your videos, just have one question.So the cardiac rythim for severe hypomagnesiemia is the same for hypermagnesemia?? both are stated to be prolonged PR and QT intervals and wide QRS complexes.

Hello :) Thank you for watching my videos. In severe loss of both conditions, yes, there is a prolonged PR and QT interval w/ widening QRS. However, with moderate loss (hypomagnesemia) there can be tall t-waves and depressed ST segments. Hello Ms. Sarah :) In F&E input & output seems to be significant topic. I struggle with this and really make it harder than it needs to be. If order for me to know if the pt has a low urine output or isn't taking in enough fluid I need to know what is considered normal in order to ID deficit. Rule of thumb for output is 30mL per hour correct? This is just considered urinary out put (sensible), right? Not output via sweat, tear etc. (insensible)?? & 30mL has to be the MINIMUM!!!! 30mL is 1 once .. that's nothing?What is considered normal in put?? Also should your input match your output? Or output slightly less than input? Thanks in advanced! Sarah :)

Hello Sarah :) Renal output should be AT LEAST 30 cc/hr (so, yes this is considered for renal only). So, if you take the whole amount of urinary output for the day and divide it out and it is less than 30 cc/hr that is abnormal. However, depending on the patient's fluid intake they should normally be putting out 1-2 liters of urine a day. Output we can measure is considered the following: urine, wound drainage, stool, emesis. We can't measure tears or sweat so we typically don't include it in output. Normal intake of fluids should be about 2 to 2.5 liters a day (less if the patient has a disease that requires fluid restriction). It varies if input and output will match but they should be very close. It really depends on if the patient is dehydrated or has other issues. But yes in the "perfect" world it should match or be very close to each other. I hope that helps :)

+skype M Are you wanting to become a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner? If so, you would need to apply to a university with a NP program that is specifically for mental health NPs. This is the only type of graduate level degree in "nursing" for mental health I'm aware of.
