I really enjoyed the content, my partner has hypothyroidism (under active) and I am a big believer in self education. I can relate to some of the symptoms you described such as tiredness low mood etc.. And was looking for information on how to better manage the symptoms and if there was any advice you could give.

I have several markers that indicate I have an underactive thyroid. Sensitive to cold, low crabby moods, tired, foggy thinking, weight gain, irregular periods, brittle nails, dry brittle hair and, family members on both sides. I have been tested and by New Zealand testing standards, I fall within the the Normal levels but at the very bottom; meaning, I'm only just over the line that meets the normal range. Because of this, my doctors won't treat, have you any suggestions? How can I communicate with my doctor that encourages them to treat me and/or what can I do to treat myself please?

30 here and was diagnosed a few years ago. I take levothyroxine every morning (125MCG), and trying my best to start going to the gym. Just keep going.

I’ve been diagnosed with an under active thyroid a few years back, I take levothyroxine tablets for it, can still live a normal life:) ,just have to get a blood test every 6 months to monitor it, hope everyone copes well with this disease

The medication does affect sleep and that’s the bad part about the meds, it can make you really tired during the day, like literally you feel like sleeping when you’re stood up, and it can keep you up at night too, it’s the luck of the draw on what you get but to make it easier, try and have a routine, go to bed around the same time at night and then wake up in the morning the same time every day, also eating a healthy diet will help and keeping busy during the day, good luck with it all :)

Had this disease since i was 19,now 42. Been on levothyroxine ever since and no improvement in my health since.Main issues are, depression anxiety generally fatigued all the time. Changed my life,and upsetting that general public have no understanding of it.People just think that because your on tablets for it your fine.

I’m a 19yo male and didn’t find out I had hypothyroidism until I was 12 and just recently I went and got an ultrasound for my thyroid and it has completely deteriorated and I sleep about 8-12 hours, I also start itching really bad and hardly have energy to get out of bed some days, but propel flavored water has helped out and given me energy to be able to get out of bed and do activities with my friends

I have an appointment coming up soon with my endocrinologist. I’m extremely lethargic most of the day, I’m a 27M, some days I literally sleep 14-16 hours in a day and I’m very depressed. I’ve never felt like this, i have horrible mood swings, sometimes I’m driving home from work and out of nowhere I just start to cry for no reason. I have intrusive thoughts of killing myself sometimes, something I’ve never experienced. Im hopeful, but at the same time I would be ok if I just didn’t wake up one morning 😢

oh no. doesnt sound good. remind yourself that theres a medical problem and keep going until the problem can be found and solved. in Islam there are lots of supplications that u can do that really help while u solve the problem. look into remedies on u tube as your gp will probably just give u drugs to deal with the symptoms. it might even be antidepressants which are really not a good idea. hope u keep your spirits up and get this solved. check out Jordan Peterson's video about living a useful life. not suggesting u arent already useful but doing additional things might help yr mood.

Thank you for the very thorough explanation of Hypothyroidism. I was recently diagnosed. I have ulcerative colitis, and afib in addition to now having thyroid disease. It's quite taxing to take diltiazem and the levothyroxin. I'm feeling very fatigued and no longer have the energy to do anything. I can barely walk my dog. Strangely enough, I lost a lot of weight, and was surprised to find out that my cholestoral was high (LDL 174). I am now afraid to eat in fear of exacerbating the high cholesterol. I am experiencing the tingling not only in the hands and feet, my face and my scalp, and I have periods of feeling lightheaded. I was on a drug called Imuran for a number of years, so I suspect this is an immune issue. I have have a goiter, and nodes under my jaw and behind my ears. My primary care physician put me on 25mcg of the levothyroxin, but I don't feel that he's been thorough enough so I made an appointment with an endocrinologist. When I asked him if the goiter and nodes were related to the hypothryoidism, his response was no, you should go see a surgeon and get a biopsy. I had to go to 3 doctors, who all did bloodwork before I got the thyroid diagnosis. A rheumatologist was the one who ultimately gave me the news regarding my thyroid. I'm glad I didn't give up. I'm praying that the endocrinologist can help me.

My TSH level is ( 76 )😂 and I’m just 23 yr old male. I’m hypothyroidism. I’m hitting gym regularly and high protein diet. Also taking thyroxine 125mg daily at morning empty stomach. My underactive thyroid went undiagnosed for almost ten years. I was sleeping almost 20 hours per day, yet still felt exhausted. My feet were always freezing, I used to have what I can only describe as some sort of attack. It would be like a sudden wave washing over me, followed by extremely bad, and horrific pain all over my body. I needed to lie in my bed until the attack was over, probably about 5/6 hours. I could not understand what was happening to me. I also hsd a lump growing on my neck, which the Doctor told me was swollen glands. I was given antibiotics, but the lump remained in situ. I was extremely concerned and upset. It wasn't until I went to the Doctor and told him about what I was calling an attack. This moved him to test my blood for Thyroid problems. All in all I think it was about ten years. What I don't understand is how Thyroxine could make a difference, as surely all those years of illness, and pain, must have knocked it for six. Also prior to this happening to me, I'd experienced a horrific case of shingles, which were around my breasts , my back, my arms. It takes along time to appear, and I believe other things were the forerunner of shingles. I would walk down the strret and find a leg, or both legs coming to a sudden painful halt, I was unable to walk pain free. I often thought I'd collapse in the street. This went on for weeks and weeks, and then I began getting a stabbing pain under my left breasy. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. The shingles showed themselves and blood blisters were everywhere. Both breasts became i fected, particularly the left one, and there are marks left behind. The pain was severe., i also had, and still have Post Herpetic Neuralgia. All these years later, still painful. I went to hospital to discuss treatment for this and was given a brand new cream, invented by the native Americans from peppers. I think it was very brand new. Trouble was that the additional pain it gave me was more dreadful. I was unable to continue due to the extra load of pain. I understand the theory behind it, but it's not for everyone.. Please read this and let me know if there's any hope for the future. 1993 was the year and it's ongoing.

Look up Dr Axe… Also look up boiling coriander seeds. My thyroid was 7:9… 3 months later after drinking coriander water my levels are now 2:2 .. my dr cannot believe it. It’s worth a try. All the best 🙏🏼

I'm 25 years old. My whole family (and I'm not exaggerating) has problems with their thyroids: most of them hypothyroidism, but my dad passed away due to undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. I always requested to get tested but I got it rejected by my doctors until last week. I'm always tired, I have drastic mood swings, I'm always constipated, I suffer from the worst migraines and even after 1 year of exercising and eating healthy (following a nutritionist's instructions) I haven't lost weight - and I used to be super skinny. I honestly thought I was going crazy and maybe I was just suffering from depression. My TSH levels are increased (6.024 to be exact, and the limit is 4 according to the exam), but now my doctor said she won't send me medication and that I just have to stop eating gluten, lactose, sausages, pork, canned food, wheat, sugar, and fruits. So basically, I can't eat lol and she says THAT will fix my thyroid. Anyone can share their thoughts on this? I feel so unmotivated, confused and sad.

Thank goodness my mom took thyroid medication when she was pregnant with me back in 1960. I have all the symptoms of thyroid problems including multiple thyroid nodules, fatigue, etc. but my numbers remain ok. I have very high cholesterol while maintaining a good diet. It's frustrating and the exhaustion and cognitive limitations are making it difficult for me.So far no one will treat me until I guess it gets much worse. I hate being in a fog all the time.

Very interesting thanks 🙏 I had high cholesterol for a while and it wasn’t going down much. Even with a proper and very clean diet. Then they discovered it was Hashimoto’s and I m now on half a pill for thyroid hormones a day. Any chance it might help the bad cholesterol to drop ?

Thankyou so much for this video. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis since 2013, although I think I have had it much longer than that. I changed GP practice a while ago, due to moving house, and they're not even giving me medication for my thyroid, like they were doing in the previous practice. I struggle to get out of bed every single day. I could sleep round the clock. I'm getting heart palpitations, losing my hair, have kidney and liver problems, pitted swelling in my lower extremities, a hoarse throat for about 4yrs, along with awful sinus trouble. Terrible brain fog, depression, memory problems, severe joint pain due to arthritis, to the point where I have to use crutches. I also have lichen sclerosus, which my gynaecologist says is linked to an untreated thyroid. I have since developed a lactose and gluten intolerance, which I never had until this year. I feel frustrated and hopeless because I don't know where to turn. I just want my life back, or at least be able to manage this condition. I had the results of bloods I had done the other day, and I have elevated liver enzymes, high cholesterol and the doctor still wants to wait for another 3 months before giving me any medication for my thyroid, while I tear my hair out over it. I wouldn't like to fall into the myxedema coma because of the thyroid being untreated. I forgot to mention that it also affects my teeth, to the point that they're starting to crumble and break, and I also get bad migraine headaches where I'm physically sick. How can one small gland cause so much havoc in the body? 😰😥

I thought I had low ferritin again but the blood test said slightly under active thyroid. My blood pressure is so high I've had pulsatile tinnitus, palpitations, tired, hair loss, I've got the lump on the front of my neck. I am in the US. And I think I may have hypothyroidism. I have dry skin especially on my face around my nose. And I have been having a lot of numb headaches which are accompanied by the chills even if it is very hot in the room. I’ve gained a lot of weight and I was told I am now suffering from a fatty liver. I also have constipation which doesn’t really bother me but my doctor noticed it. I have also suffered from sore muscles and fatigue. And I get a lot of calcium buildup in my spit glands. I’ve been dealing with this for a year now and the symptoms are getting much worse may because it’s winter. I’ve found that I can self treat this by taking a scalding hot shower. By spraying the hot water directly on the top center of my head it makes me feel tingly and causes me to shiver for a short time. Then I feel normal again for a while. Is this normal? Is this hypothyroidism?

I am extremely frustrated. I am taking both synthroid and liothyronine very low doses. This is the second specialist I am seeing. I just had bloodwork done and my TSH is low. What upsets me is that neither one of my doctors have done a FULL PANEL of bloodwork on me. I have nodules again diagnosed via ultrasound recently yet I still have all the symptoms of low thyroid. What upsets me is that I have yet to be tested with a FULL panel of bloodwork and I am thinking that it might be HASHIMOTOS DISEASE. Why haven't my doctors done a check for this? It's not like I am on a HMO! Going back in a week and if I don't get the tests I need to figure this out I guess I will be looking for new endo. And they are few and far between in the Atlanta area.

Hello, I had my gallbladder removed too but before I thought I was going to die due to all my symptoms. Apparently the first sign was being low on potassium, then being low on iron, and lastly finally they saw my super low numbers and concluded I have hypothyroidism. Right now everyday I feel parts of my body going to sleep (tingling) headaches, throat pain, my body feels drained, I have bone pain here and there. I truly don’t want to leave my home and the worse thing I’d say is severe brain fog. I was told today I have hypothyroidism.

Thanks for this video I needed as my mother has stopped her thyroid medication she had idea that self taking herself off medication and go eating organic foods helps thyroid it hadn’t she struggles to talk and her chin increased in size I was horrified when I seen that state I knew she was diagnosed but she so stubborn minded doesn’t like taking medication. She also got worse with memory I don’t regularly see her she lives 90 miles away but last two times I got in contact I was shocked seeing her face and hearing her voice and memory. So many dramatic changes in her health. Obviously she didn’t watch the signs while going off the medication sent alarm bells. I actually spoken to my brother of her health if he noticed he admitted he did. I advise others if wanting go off thyroid medication and try dieting please be cautious it’s horrible seeing a family member did get worse and stubborn to take medication.

I am 21, it's been 2 years since I had my first hypothyroidism test, the TSH level was really high, although the t3 and t4 levels were normal as well as my thyroid ultrasound with no t3 and t4 antibodies detected and I had no symptoms at all (I am a bit sensitive to cold, but I don't know if it is a symptom). I got tested again about 6 months ago (my hair was falling more than usual) only for the TSH levels and it was also high, the doctor said it is not something to worry about, and that it may be that my body normally secretes more TSH than normal. I am still confused, should I run TSH tests every couple months or should I change my doctor? Thank you in advance!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis about a month and a half ago. I am having a lot of tightness in my throat and it feels like I cannot breathe at times. at night it’s difficult because I try to prop my head up in certain position in hopes that I can take in more air but no luck. anybody have any tips on what they did when they felt like they were being choked by their thyroid?

I was diagnosed primary hypotherodism about 2-3 weeks ago.Your expirience is same as mine .One night i awake feeling cannot breath .so I put 2 pillows that time I don’t know i have a hypo, until diagnose my doctor after i take 50 micrograms levothyroxine I feel better but still I used 2 pillow for sleeping .

hi i have very high blood fat and very high cholesterol, i also have coronary heart disease, my last two blood tests i have between 5.31 and 6.65 serum TSH levels, but my doctor said my thyroid is ok, i also suffer with sleep apnea i think due to my throat problems and have high blood pressure i’m wandering if these are linked, any advice

I think the sleep apnea might be raising ur tsh. I have insomnia and My tsh is 6.3. I'm sure it's because of insomnia. Do u have mold anywhere? Illuminated mild inmyhouse abdmy sleepapneajustwent away. Thank me later.

I am very distressed I am 82 and have just been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and lymphoma on consultant said the lymphoma above my eyebrow was more important and.another one said the thyroid carcinoma was more important, I've been shielding for months and now this is very upsetting just before Christmas I wish they would tell me which one is important so I can get treatment

Get it iodine levels checked. So much misinfo about that. Get all ur vitamin checked. Selenium, d, cortisol, fate,everything..c, magnesium. Also get a 2nd opinion. Hard to believe it borderline and diagnosed withthoseconditions.

I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and hashimotos. Its gotten worse over the past year as i didnt take my medication properly. You say you are tired all the time and I have noticed I am so very sleepy and have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. Do you ever seem to finally wake up in the afternoon around 3:30pm or so? It seems lately I'm tired all morning but for some reason I finally become more alert and less brain fog around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I continue to feel good for the rest of the night and know the next morning I'll feel like total hell again and won't be alert in the morning.

I'm 29yrs old and was just informed that I might have hypothyroidism. I just recently had CBC and CMP done and my leves came at 7.6. As I was being explained the symptoms it all made sense.. but I have a doubt. I would usually (frequently) experience random dizzy spells is that another symptom? Or was it cause by being tired?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the compression of the median nerve at the wrist. Some people might see an improvement with medication however many will require additional treatments such as splinting, steroid injections or surgery. Your doctor should be able to assess you and determine what treatment is suitable. In some patients the degree of compression is bad enough to cause irreversible damage to the nerve. I actually looked at this in biology and I thought I might have it so I asked to be tested and it came back positive. I think I was 16 when I got diagnosed, I’m 18 this year. They said my hormones were stupidly low and I was like oh shit. I’m actually anaemic as well and it turns out that’s a symptom and my hypothyroidism went undiagnosed for ages so who knows. Doctors always say I’m too young to have hypothyroidism?? Edit: found out I was diagnosed in 2018, so I was 15

@@PuroOsso753 Yeah so apparently my Hormone level was REALLY low before I got the medication. Like stupidly low. And I was on 25 micrograms which is now 50. It has gone up and is now normal :)

@@PuroOsso753 It takes a while, I had frequent blood tests to get it right. Whenever I get a blood test i always ask for a full blood test which checks everything just in case because I'm paranoid. I suggest you check if you're anaemic because we didn't know I was for a while after being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and the tiredness was really hard to deal with.

Hello Doctor! I've recently taken a blood test and was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. With a TSH level of 184. I did not show any symptoms and had to take another blood test. Currently waiting on results and further action.. My mother was also diagnosed with this about 10 years ago, hers being quite "extreme." She's doing fine and has been taking medication since. So my question is: Is there anything I can do in the mean time while I wait for my previous blood test results and further instruction from the Dr? My throat feels scratchy every now an then but thats about it. I've been eating selenium rich foods (in moderation) but I'm fairly concerned about it getting worse before I can get any type of treatment. Thanks! Apologies for the lengthy message.
