Okay. I appreciate your response. I was checking around the numerous website and I heard the belt tensioner can cause the squealing issue that is very popular with the Mazda Protege. My alternator and water pump are fine so I was looking into the tensioner to solve the squealing issue. Again, thanks for the info.

If you have no spark two of the most common parts that fail and lead to that condition are crank sensor and ignition module.

It is very possible as the crank sensor is one of the biggest reasons why a vehicle will not fire.

If you want i will look into making a video on replacement of the belt tensioner on the Protege.

When was the last time the timing belt was changed.

On this one it was done to show replacement there was on bad sensor involved.

I have not got a workshop manual for this car. Question, does anyone know what the small sender unit right next to the crank sensor is for ? It is located just above and to the left of the crank sensor and has a single spade male terminal and can easily be seen in the video ! I would hazard a guess that it is the Oil Pressure Sender Unit ?

Your problems sounds like a possible loose belt and just because it does not have a automatic tensioner does not mean you can not tighten the belt it is just done the old fashion way.You lossen bolts move the alternator to tighten the belt then retighten the bolts.

That would be great. I eagerly look forward to seeing it. I have heard that belt tensioner when it is worn out causes the belt to squeal. My belt is starting to sound like a pack of hungry piglets.

I use a piece of sheet metal 1x 6 inch long with a 1/4 inch hole to screw into the tripod mount of the camera.Then i use a pair of vice grips to clamp it to the car which i only do in my junk yard endeavors.

I am not 88% sure that my crankshaft position sensor is bad. On a obd2 I have code p0339 and p0337. Vehicle runs great at times when I slow down to idle it dies and cranks doesn't fire I leave it for an hour and starts good. Does this sound like crankshaft position sensor is at fault?

The water pump and alternator are fine but I heard the tensioner can cause the squealing issue. Hello I had a quick question I have my check engine light turned on and it was due to the crank shaft sensor and it turned off for one day then turned back on , the only thing I didn't do was disconnect the battery , not really sure if that has anything to do with the enginelight turning back on

My Nissan xterra, 2002, se, 6 cl was running and stopped on the road. I changed spark plug, change spark plug cables, change fuel pump, change fuel pump filter, and it crank but don’t start, I am going to buy a crank position sensor to see if it is the problem, if it does not work then I have to buy the distributor. Please if you know what I should do please let me know. I tried the test by removing the spark plug cable and using the negative of the battery to the head of the spark plug.

Yesterday my 2009 Hyundai accent, stalled and would not turn over. Good video on how to.. However, you might want to mention that it is a bitch to get to. Clearly you have removed a bunch of stuff to access the CPS. I propped the upper radiator hose back towards the air box using a bungee cord. Then, I used a flashlight to be able to see what I was doing. Finding that 10mm bolt was challenging, but I was able to do it.

This is not a good video to learn from, as he actually broke the sensor. NEVER pry a sensor out before twisting it side to side, or subsequently you break it in half inside the engine block and then create a lot of work for yourself to get the broken piece out.
