This video follows a portion of I-87/287 (the New York State Thruway) through Rockland County and across the Tappan Zee Bridge into Westchester County just after the toll booth.

Good stuff, nice timing with the song breaks throughout the video, good factoids about the bridges history too, thumbs up!

for 25 years now, since August 1, 1995, 65 mph has been allowed in New York, on rural portions of the New York State Thruway.

Even though it's falling apart, I really do love the Tappan Zee Bridge. Great video!

Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Nice trivia :) I've read somewhere the bridge is also structurally deficient due to the inferior materials used during the Korean War shortages in the early 1950's.

@MyMultimedia I am, but I travel frequently throughout the NE and other states that use the E-ZPass system. I also have a SunPass, PeachPass, and a QuickPass, NC's new electronic toll system.

Thanks for the upload. Haven't been anywhere outside of Massachusetts in the Northeast. That bit of history regarding the Port Authority was somewhat disturbing.

I like anyone who puts travel videos up. I like to know all highways of the United States. How much was the toll?

The Tappan Zee Bridge is crumbling!

They put new railings on the Tappan Zee Bridge since the last time I was on it (which was years ago). It used to have this cool steel railing made up of four rows of squares going all the way to the road. The new railing is probably much safer, the old one looked cooler.

thatmuse76 This Bridge is on its way down (demolished), a new twin span Cable Stayed Bridge was built and fully opened this year and renamed Tappan Zee-Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

@aswchris I heard this on the History Channel "The Crumbling of America." It covered this bridge. Wasn't there ideas to replace the bridge to make it efficient but I guess that's not happening?
