Based off of the title, I was expecting a yardsale, but you not only handled that very well, you stomped a BIG cliff at the end there!! Good work man. Glad you took it safe up top. I can see why they call it Hanging Bowl. Literally hanging off the precipice lol.

Way to ride that out. Been there. Not a comfortable feeling to say the least. One day, if you make it to old age, you will look back at this moment with love in your heart and feel satisfied knowing that you lived it.

@@EatsLikeADuck I think you misunderstand. I wasn’t commenting on the old age. I’m saying that this drop and ride out in the video isn’t that gnarly. It wasn’t a life or death situation. It’s not really that challenging of terrain for accomplished skiers… hence the melodramatic comment.

I'm impressed with the limits being pushed by today's extreme skiers. It's an entirely different sport than 50+ years ago when I started skiing. Hope they are wearing helmets on terrain like this. Snowbird and the other areas in the SLC canyons are some of the best skiing on the planet. Great stuff!
@davez52012 жыл бұрын
A helmet isn't going to save you if you crash doing that kind of skiing.
@davidjorgensen8772 жыл бұрын
@@davez5201 You'd be surprised. The body can handle a lot of tumble on snow, and a certain amount of ice and rock. But you smack that same ice or rock with a bare head and what might have been scarring or breakage becomes disablement or death. That's why smart skiers wear helmets ... always!!!
@davez52012 жыл бұрын
@@davidjorgensen877 my point is that a helmet will protect the skull, but it won't protect the brain. It's not a licence to ski like an idiot.
@davidjorgensen8772 жыл бұрын
@@davez5201 A helmet will definitely mitigate the extent of injury to both skull and brain, even in these circumstances. With a helmet on, brain injury is less of a risk than neck or spinal injury. Also, in my opinion, this dude was not skiing like an idiot, he was challenging his skill level, which everyone must do if they wish to progress to the next level, whether you're a beginner or advanced - personal judgement is required. This guy's ability to pull it out proves he had the necessary experience to accept the challenge that he set for himself. A helmet is no substitute for sound judgement, but it can definitely reduce the consequences of poor judgement, or just bad luck.

To clarify the intention was to ski out of the drop in a controlled manner and to possibly link more drops into the line after that to the side. Probably would have hurt but nah I didn't almost die, I also never expected this video to get more than 100 views.

many henry- that was like a turbo kicked in at 0:51 and you were a long for the ride. Same exact thing happened to me when skiing a bowl for the first time at Vail, Co. I didn't gauge it (shadows) and shot the bottom of the bowl- huge mistake. Hit about Mach 2- eventually did a huge yard sale. Must have rolled 10 times. One ski stayed on- true miracle that I didn't tear up my leg/knees. Ski on terrain that is at your skill level...that includes knowing some terrain is mixed, rocky and icy. Imagine if you ran into someone below you- all bad news. I was an instructor out West and saw some bad things. Have fun but do ski safe and wear a helmet!
