@@EatsLikeADuck I think you misunderstand. I wasn’t commenting on the old age. I’m saying that this drop and ride out in the video isn’t that gnarly. It wasn’t a life or death situation. It’s not really that challenging of terrain for accomplished skiers… hence the melodramatic comment.

A helmet isn't going to save you if you crash doing that kind of skiing.

​@@davez5201 You'd be surprised. The body can handle a lot of tumble on snow, and a certain amount of ice and rock. But you smack that same ice or rock with a bare head and what might have been scarring or breakage becomes disablement or death. That's why smart skiers wear helmets ... always!!!

​@@davez5201 A helmet will definitely mitigate the extent of injury to both skull and brain, even in these circumstances. With a helmet on, brain injury is less of a risk than neck or spinal injury. Also, in my opinion, this dude was not skiing like an idiot, he was challenging his skill level, which everyone must do if they wish to progress to the next level, whether you're a beginner or advanced - personal judgement is required. This guy's ability to pull it out proves he had the necessary experience to accept the challenge that he set for himself. A helmet is no substitute for sound judgement, but it can definitely reduce the consequences of poor judgement, or just bad luck.

There is no more "control" when going light speed in these snow conditions. You have to pin it.

I was thinking the same thing

To clarify the intention was to ski out of the drop in a controlled manner and to possibly link more drops into the line after that to the side. When I landed I lost control and had no choice but to pin it to the flats. Would I have died if I lost control straight lining? Probably would have hurt but nah I didn't almost die, I also never expected this video to get more than 100 views.

@@henryzakowski5385 most riders know the feeling when you get to that level, ignore the haters, been there a few times where all you think is death is imminent once you realize there's no stopping haha. Great run and glad you rode it out safe.

Where were you riding at Fernie? Lots of sick terrain out there. It's not Castle but it's a solid second choice.
