I started the first episode last week thinking it would be as bad as the previous adaptations of others.. But as soon as he did the first 'gum gum... Pistol'... I mean, if nothing else, Inaki makes me think that the live action will be at least good. I want to see it succeed to see Inaki succeed and that's about the biggest point I can find in the show's favor. Honestly, I am in an unexpected position of each criteria I wanted to see the show get right, be gotten right. They got Luffy!

The directing will also be important. That Last Airbender movie had great casting for Aang, a joyful little boy, but then M.Night Shyamalan directed everyone to be much more serious then their cartoon counterpart as he treated the movie like a historical fantasy epic, when it was supposed to be a joyful adventure.

It got Henry Cavill as the lead who loved the game even before being casted and then get into the books after he's casted, a guy with genuine love for his character and series. But the writing and directing of it is mediocre at best and it follows neither the game nor the books. It has almost every ingredient to be a cult classic and is ruined by awful directing decisions.

He actually kind of acts like Luffy hahaha. As a One Piece snob that doubted anything good would come of the Netflix series.....they proved me wrong. Should have trusted Oda.

I mean they literally did what every other adaptation failed to do..... work with the creator. Such a simple concept but everyone else is hoping for a cashgrab while these guys really put a lot of heart into it.
