I had a racist dude and his bronze egirl in my game, dude shouted slurs for 12 rounds until someone on my team grabbed his ip, booted him offline and used a program to mass report him for cheating. the match was then cut short and I got the red cheater screen

As a girl who is still relatively new to the game, today there was this friendly guy who said hello, so I hesitated, but then said hi back because he sounded wholesome. And wow the change in his attitude was actually shocking. And I agree, I think it’s ridiculous that it should be on me to mute them and that they get so little punishment, so thank you josh for posting this. It was hard to sit through, but your reaction to it is just like idk it’s respectable. It’s the way I want to be able to react to things haha, or I guess not react.

This was one of the hardest matches to watch. I really hope Riot takes steps to address this kind of behavior in the future, because it should *never* be considered normal to spew hate like this. It's not a "joke" as they tried to play it off as, it's something people live with every day.

There’s been so many encounters where people in my games are laughed at or bullied because they’re a woman or the sound of their voice like you said. I’ve been in many unrated and comp games where 4 of my teammates are yelling, screaming into their mic, calling me boosted because of the sound of my voice. Even I consider myself lucky as I know that so many other people go through things 10x worse than this. Personally, I don’t do well with people yelling at me or just making me uncomfortable so I just end up muting them which doesn’t really solve the problem. I don’t really know how I can explain this, but while I’m playing, I can still hear their voice kind of echoing and it just kind of puts me down. When that happens, I just usually leave the game which results with me getting a warning or a ban. Because of these encounters, whenever someone else is getting bullied or yelled at, I’m afraid to speak up and when I do, the person that was getting yelled at doesn’t step up for me even though I did for them. This is really the reason why I prefer to duo with a friend that I know has my back and I really think that this is an issue that should be addressed by Riot.

This video was so hard to watch, but thank you for posting. The way people just do this and get pure enjoyment out of harassment and don't find it a problem awakens an anger so deep inside that words nor actions can exude how I feel. The real problem stares back at them in the mirror every night. Unfortunate for them. Love you Josh!!

I'm going to be so honest, I had one too many games like this and it's the reason I stopped playing Valo. It's hard to watch, and it's even harder to sit through. It sucks so much, you handle it way better than I do. I just don't understand how making someone miserable and uncomfortable for 40 minutes is a fun way to spend their night. I'm just trying to play and chill without being harassed for whatever reason. I can handle banter, I've been playing videogames for a long time, but the constant pressure is insane. If you're not constantly harrassing someone, both of you can focus on the game and get more wins, which is what everyone wants, no? I actually played a game so toxic once I had to private message one of the kids on my team that he was doing fine and that the two insta-lock duelists that were 3-15 were wrong about him being bad at the game. It’s insane how some people act in this game.

The entire video really had me vibrating with anger; this type of harassment is absolutely I've experienced when playing Valorant, and other online games; if it's not for one aspect of yourself it's for another, and I never know how to think on my feet to respond. i know this is an older video, but i wanted to say thank you publicly for once. i've noticed how often you speak out in your streams and videos to toxic players and it's so refreshing. and it's regardless if you're the target or not. you're really adamant into making the experience as enjoyable as ever for everyone. sometimes it's just nice hearing someone say something. as a woman in valorant (which we know isn't even rare), it's stupid how often i or other women, or just anyone who doesn't follow the general "criteria" as cis straight male, get verbally attacked and/or sabotaged for purely existing in the same spaces as them. for example, i had someone recently start throwing on my team in comp purely because i was a woman after comm'ing during a solo queue. he took it to the point where he would follow me around just to vulnerable me so i'd lose 1 vs. basically, it's to the point that i rarely comm if i'm solo queuing unless it's 100% necessary. i tend to duo at the very least with someone who can comm on my behalf. the mentality that muting teammates in a game where comms is so important is insane, but sometimes there's no choice. but also just being told to mute is so terrible. why should victims minimize their spaces instead of holding the people doing this stuff accountable? i'm also the type to break my silence if someone else is being bullied because i know how hearing someone call these toxic people out can really change your own mindset. even if i start taking the flame, i don't care. people should just treat others with kindness. but people get so bold behind a screen. my best friend who got me into val just flat out says to never admit you're a woman or anything not "normal" in this game .. i just can't be comfortable with that? why do victims need to tiptoe around while the bullies can get away with so much? it's ridiculous. i'll step off my soap box now but thank you josh for always being so refreshing, funny and caring. i've been a silent viewer for a few months now, but i want you to know that your words and actions matter and make a difference for many. thank you for creating a safe space in gaming when you can for many groups of people. your efforts are seen and appreciated. stay you!

Honestly I deal with jerks and assholes at school and it is the same thing. My dad says this same exact thing to me, and I sometimes feel so bad about myself that I don't take this advice into consideration. This is basically the day to day crowd that i encounter even though this game is crazy because these 4 idiots found each other. I also dont think muting is the best solution. I usually stand up to them as well and obviously report. I think the most important thing is to be an intrusion to this toxic behaviour. Its important that they know it will not be tolerated. Would love to see riot give more of a shit - this game could be the best game ever if it werent for players like that.

Thank you for showing this I felt like I was going crazy because people were saying the game has gotten better with toxicity and stopped making it a focus in videos and comments but I still deal with it if I choose to talk while solo queued. It makes me feel like I am not allowed to play or have fun unless I have a guy with me which is crazy. Even though sometimes they start to bully the people with me too ;-;

Its so sad on how true this is. Once in a comp game I was in split playing omen and I was going negative. My whole team was mocking me for it even though only 2 person were positive. I muted them but they threw the game by the yoru flashing me and breach stunning me. After that experince I just quit valorant for an entire month. I feel you josh hopefully valorant finds a way to fix this issue.

Its just tiring, being unable to be part of a community because it rejects you right away its just... so hard. Plus, its been plenty games I ended up going AFK due to an anxiety attack cos I needed to go cry after a game...

the way my heart instantly dropped when you were just trying to be friendly and talk to them and they immediately attacked you because of your voice. every time I speak in this game, people would either ask me if i was a child or a woman due to my voice not being so feminine for a girl. And either answer would get me attacked or they would flirt and make me uncomfortable. I genuinely enjoy games where the guys treated me normally, just another valorant player working with them to win the game. Not a child who isn’t allowed to play games because I have “homework to do” or a woman who is “boosted” or “belongs in the kitchen”. by the way, you have a really nice and calming voice josh! If I were to hear a voice like yours in game, I would definitely had tried to be their friend.
