I Almost Traded My AMG Mercedes For A Broken AMG SUV! Here's What I Found Wrong With It!

I almost made a bad mistake trading one of my Mercedes AMG cars, for an AMG SUV and it would have been all my fault. The owner of the car was super honest but didn't realize something major that I almost missed until the end. Oh and this was Chance the Rappers body double!!

Hey Alex, I drive my mom's Toyota Yaris MK 2 (Hatchback), and it's started to consume more fuel than normal, I took it to Toyota for a service and told them the issue but it doesn't look like it's leaking fuel, any advice (also no codes). It's a 2011 car with only 28000 on the clock. Thanks, Assad

I think you should trade the car for ML. At least you could make a couple of videos of it and then sell the ML on ebay. The benefit would be as I have already said - we would be able to see a bunch of videos. I suppose pretty interesting videos with it.

I have an ML55 in mint condition here in Lisbon, I absolutely love that car, it's comfortable, reliable and fast. It seems to be a car people do not pay much attention to, but I think it will appreciate more with time as people tire of electronics and sensors and want to go back to some real "german muscle" , loved the video, thank you

That knock sounds similar to the cat rattle that my ML55 makes (at least on camera). Also rusty ML55s here in the Midwest are pretty par for the course. That one is way better off than my beater ML at this point -- although the rust comes through really quick. The most surprising part about that ML was that the original battery box is there-- from what the forums said those things got thrown away a lot of the time.

Alex, you are a waaay too nice guy. Everytime the word "friend" comes up in the conversation, your "friend" has trashed a car, trashed an engine or in this case, trashed a gear shifter. I think you need better friends! I know that anyone who hurt my car in any way, would not stay my friend, unless they fixed it themselves. You're much more forgiving.

Mercs from this era had a 40 year rust guarantee, as long as the car was serviced by Mercedes. If you see a late 1990's early 2000's merc with rust, it means that it was not dealer serviced, even when it was nearly, as most of them started rusting very early on, due to the dark times when Mercedes used eco friendly water based paint. If you kept up the servicing, they'd replace every panel on your car for free. Around 2002/2003 they switched back to proper paint. Eco warriors ruin everything

@@nirfz i'm familiar with that video, but not sure how to take it. he was literally building an actual track car with an un-touched and unopened engine and he never mentions how many miles the car has, but you can tell by the options on the car it's an 03 or 04 E55. and in the videos he is beating on it like a real race car... again on a factory original unopened engine with apparently not a single thing done to inspect or freshen it up... all other m113's are just street cars
@nirfz
@nirfz 5 жыл бұрын
@@briancarroll481 true, but a rubber gasket gets hard over time and heat cycles. There is no maintenance for rubber gaskets inside the oilpan. Maybe a road driven car does not get as hot, i think it depends on the climate it is operated in, and the usage: my w212 e63s oil temp gets up to around 135-139°C when it gets to see the local mountain roads in summer, while it stays at around 100-110°C when driven normal on the "flat" parts. I think the thing to take away is that if the rubber gasket on the outside is leaking, it should be the right time to replace the inside one too.

I am still waiting to drive my AMG. I bought it 3 months ago and it is a 2001 S-430 that I literally stole. The guy I bought it from had NO IDEA what he was sitting on. I did once I pulled the CARFAX WOW. Owned by the same company for 17 years and only used as an executive car to pick up people and they sold it to a "kid" that had it 6 months and did not like it. "TFB" my luck his loss. I sent it to my repair shop in April 2 days after I bought it and they are doing a factory repaint due to 5 little clear coat spots. and are this week putting in new leather seats (the old driver side did the usual split under your butt that these are known for) and Finally they made the ONLY fault that showed up on the computer and dash ( I understand it is a standard problem) there was a warning that the low oil probe was faulty ($260 with the repair and oil change which you have to drain the oil to change the probe) All in all I am into the 90,000 mile 2001 S-430 AMG $7000 total. Try and buy a well tested and well cared for 18 year old Mercedes anywhere for that. And to top it off I was able to get a bumper to bumper full mechanical insurance policy for the next 5 years with only a $100 deductible. NO complaints here

Anyway glad you're on here I just saw the vid and it sounds like more of a top end noise than bottom end, it's tapping too slow IMO to be a rod knock I have a feeling it's a lifter or at least something valvetrain related. OK it's a smoker and needs a rebuild to be at it's best but if you're able to check the valve clearances and see if one is way big that might be an easier fix to quiet it down. Hard to tell from the video but I feel it's on the left bank, same side you swapped coils on.

If you are enquiring about changing engine mounts on a W210 you need a 16 mm combination ring and open ended flat spanner to get out the top bolt. I had to shorten my spanner by grinding the flat end off to get enough room to swing it. It is a very tight area to work. Some models have a 17 mm hex bolt rather than 16 mm. Good luck! Faulty engine mount is identified by a leaking brown colour sticky liquid oozing out.

a lot of people i can tell knows nothing about cars, when u have a rod knock the oil pressure drops drastically because the bearing is the seal so is will lose oil pressure, if u keep driving the car u completely destroying the engine because other components wont get enought oil pressure, thats why u see smoke in this video because the piston rings and pistons already gone

Dude just turned the ignition, without allowing the car electronics to diagnose and set themselves...that's a big no no on Mercs.

Thats a great way to get your car fixed for nothing, entice a qualified technician to come by and look at it, and he sorts our the issue on the spot- for free!! You saved him a couple of grand!

*Wut?* Need new engine? I have crazy amount of respect to you dude, but that might be bullshit. My teacher at school was right. US mechanics aren't car mechanics at all. They all are whole-units-swappers, nothing more. Here, where i live, in Poland, we have very unhealthy habit of cheap-ass fixing cars. But for real, if engine works like this, it only needs really honest care are few new parts. I'm sure you know it, but people who watch yours (and not only yours) videos about fixing cars might think "if engine fault is hard to fix, lets swap whole engine". Im not saying its always bad($$$). But for most cases it is unnecessary. Especially with big European/Asian engines with more than 5 cyl. Downsizing will catch us all before electric cars take over. At some point there will be no more of these engines. Think about it, how many people in US are rebuilding an old engine right now because they cannot find good one. I'm not a Merc expert of any kind, but for me it needs good, old fashion diagnostics; get a service manual first, check compression, every possible sensor(check it individually, with multimeter/oscilloscope, not only check codes) check equipment part after part, wiring, etc. etc. etc... If it doesn't help take engine out, take it apart, grab micrometer, some feeler gauges, bore gauge etc. Then check every possible dimensions, flow rates... you know what i mean. Exclusively then decide about swap. Only fractured/blown block, worn out cylinder walls should qualifies as immediate swap. We are not at dealership, we've got time to restore it. No one will sue you for too long repair at your own garage.

He was aware of what the deal was and didn't bother to mention the rust on the car? That's shady. You did the right thing by now going forward with the trade. He would have gotten a nice ride in exchange for a car with a worthless engine and tons of rust.

@ LegitStreetCars hi i watched this video as i have a problem with my C320 cdi 2007 (w204) i had drove into some water in our pothole ridden area and some water went into the intake and long story short a con-rod broke, ok so i wanted to just replace the motor and get it over but what ended up happening is that my uncle (who has a full time diesel mechanic working for him) said his mechanic will sort my car out and well i was happy, its 1 year and 8 days now and well im still car less. car runs but no power at all any idea what may be wrong?

I wouldn't do it. Buy an ML55 and call it a day. It would cost more to mess around with a supercharger on the ml320
