A family business in Glasgow failed in their bid to stop the operation of the city's low emissions zone after taking Glasgow City Council to Scotland's highest civil court.
Lawyers for John Paton and Sons Ltd told the Court of Session earlier this month that the local authority’s scheme was “illegal” and “draconian” and should be stopped.
Former columnist at The Scottish Herald Donald McLeod says: “It’s all about the money, it’s not about the pollution.”

Recently went to London and spoke to a 75 year old Londoner who will now be spending £150 each month to go shopping and visiting friends etc etc. His car has fallen foul of Khan's ULEZ crap. At 75, he's not in the mood to go down the ULEZ scapage route. Khan is an out of control Mayor - and guess what. he's a WEF Member.

Love shopping in Glasgow city center we travel up from Cumbria since all ulez have gone up in Major cities we don't travel there anymore just in case we get fined. Shame but not risking it..

When you consider that this has all come about since we signed a net zero treaty which we have to comply with. Also mayor khan with is C40 cities project, saw the opportunity to turn this to his favour in the form of a cash cow scene. Every large city has followed his lead. We even have the greens new policy of putting a green levy on cruise ships who visit Scotland. We might as well give up trying to make our nations great again. Because we're being frustrated at every stage.

I'm very surprised Glaswegians have accepted this bollocks tax I suspect it's due to the very small city centre ULEZ. I'd imagine things will change when Glasgow council get greedier,as they will, and extend the ULEZ into more residential areas.

as the court stated that the businesses' loss was "in the thousands, not in the millions" .. this infers that that had it indeed been in the millions that amount would swing her decision.. after all she can NOT say a monetary figure does not influence her decision.. it just did!!! wish you all the best with any future court re-call.. and if Paton can show he would have had MANY repair contracts worth millions he has a case.. all he needs is promissory notes from a thousand people at a £1000.00 per year contract, or if the court wants to be petty (it declared millions.. (plural) therefore Paton would need 2000 contracts at £1000.00 P.a,, )

Not quite, fines are being used as the first stage to get as many cars off the roads as possible unless you are wealthy, add to that digital currency and smart meters and speech freedoms, I am sure you can see where the end result will be and its not good.
