@@garus9078 Look, there's a promotional podcast for God of War 2018 called Lost Pages of Norse Myth, where one of the stories is about the creation of the Leviathan Axe and Brok's death. To save you time I will put the summary of the story below. Fifth Lost Page: The Forging of Leviathan Thor attacks three Giants in Midgard with the mighty hammer Mjölnir, killing two while the third one fled. Brok and Sindri, the ones who forged the hammer 30 years prior, are in their Svartalfheimworkshop, not having started the fires of their forge for a long time. Sindri voices his horror at the suffering they caused, while Brok is annoyed at Sindri's constant “yapping” and says, “what’s done is done”. Sindri argues that everyone, not just the Giants, suffer at the hands of their weapon, while Brok retorts that Sindri was prideful for appeasing Odin by making the “lightning hammer” for Thor. Sindri claims that since they both made it that it is their responsibility to undo the mistake they made. They then commence a plan to create a weapon to counter Mjölnir. You shouldn't read too much into this, imo. Videogames are( often) an outlet for our darkest thoughts, instincts and desires. Especially God of War games or perhaps games like GTA. Tyr is just going completely against what these games are fundamentally about, basically he just slows us down. Thus the resentment i think.

@@kaiderhai86 I wouldn't say this is reading too much into it, it's pretty surface level regarding the series itself. But, that is basically my point. Tyr tells us he doesn't want to hurt people, and then players get mad when he refuses to hurt people, because that's what a lot of players want to see. They tend to attribute their own desire to fight as a flaw in Tyr's character. Which, to be clear, isn't necessarily wrong for the player to do. Everyone digests media in their own way, and that's their right. I would, however, disagree that Tyr is slowing the player down at all. The game progresses at pace regardless of his intent or involvement. In fact, he tries to speed you along multiple times in Alfheim, for specific reasons, and he even shortcuts a few of the puzzles, showing utility outside of combat.

@Michaeljefferson9000 I can see your point regarding the pace. I think however this comes from an understanding our main protagonists or the player cannot have at this point in the game. Tyr just was not what everyone expected, especially Atreus. He thought freeing him would mean answers and the threat of Odin being practically resolved. Or atleast a strong ally. The game makes us feel what he needs very fast. Tyr not wanting to fight anyone or having said answers leaves him with nothing, it seems. That's why he goes to seek Freya ( pretty desperate) right after.

@@kaiderhai86 I don't disagree with the assertion of "an understanding our main protagonists or the player cannot have at this point in the game," though I will say that historically, the GoW series shows war and needless death to be a very bad thing, and is nothing new to Ragnarök. This is an interesting topic of discussion, but to avoid spoiling Mati or any first-timers that may be reading, I'll refer to Kratos' warning to Atreus when going into the mines. "Consider your intent." Kratos here is implying that Atreus doesn't _actually_ know what he wants, really, and that he may not be ready for the consequences of his actions, should they bear fruit or otherwise. It was a harsh lesson that Kratos himself learned over and over again in Greece. Atreus, right now, seems to be looking for purpose, and this is the conclusion he's come to. I think we'll be able to discuss more freely in the next couple of episodes, but at the moment there's only so much we can say.
