Alright lads so Marvel dropped the first 2 episodes of X-Men '97 and I couldn't be happier as a Marvel fan!
Not only does it take me all the way back to my childhood but the way they picked up the story right from Season 5's ending back in 1997 is just amazing!
The animation is totally different from Marvel's What IF and that's what I love about this show.
Because animation back in 97 wasn't as crisp or smooth as we see today but I am glad to see that Marvel pretty much kept the same animation from the old days instead of making drastic changes.

The first 2 episodes were incredible! Apart from the nostalgia effect, it had very good writing and that's what matters the most.

My favorite was the way he scolded them after storm lost her powers. “They do nothing but defend you and this is how they’re repaid” I had literal goosebumps after that line

I never saw the original series and even so I found these episodes excellent, the characters are very well characterized and their stories are very well distributed and interesting, the music and animation are very good, the theme of mutant discrimination is incredible, and For me, if this Magneto maintains this quality for the rest of the episodes it will become my favorite adaptation of the character so far, that speech in episode 2 was outstanding

I didn't come into the first episodes with a lot of expectations, I thought the hype about it was going to be cos of nostalgia and whatnot. After watching those two episodes, as Lad said it...I'm in love with the show and it's been just 2 episodes. And brooo Magneto casually becoming a favourite character of mine too. I have no idea how they did it, but this was amazing. I hope they continue with this level of writing, I want to watch a hundred more episodes of this.

Professor X isn't dead. In the end of Season 5, he was sent to some far away planet since that's the only place where he could be healed. So the death certificate and all of that in the Show is probably forged as an attempt to bring back Magneto who thinks Charles Xavier really is dead to the "bright side" or something

*Cyclops felt like a leader! Storm showed why she's an omega level mutant..that plus the writing and nostalgia got me. My only complaint is....* *That it wasnt released on a Saturday lol*

The original series seasons 1 to 4 was well done and covered a lot of arcs. X-men 97 is a surprisingly awesome continuation. I was so surprised that they introduced Madeline and little Nathan so quickly.

4:03 I think that the Jean that showed up at the door step is the clone. She said "I need the X-Men", which feels kinda weird to come from the real Jean. Maybe she's there to convince the X-Men that she's the real one(even tho she's not) and maybe create a conflict between the team..... But hey, That's just a Theory Also a youtuber called A Bit of Everything also had a similar theory in his breakdown video ( I really recommend giving him a watch, he's a great content creator. Also he actually has a great theory on the structure of the entire MCU and many great breakdowns. I would absolutely love to see Lad collab with him)

I freaking love it and I really hope the new X-Men live action cast will deliver to this level 🤞🏻 I also felt that something tragic will happen to Storm because she's just wholesome and I almost teared up when I thought she was gonna die 💔 I wish I was able to experience the og series back in the 90's when I was a kid 🥺😭

I believe the technical term is "Audience Surrogate", for a character who purpose is for other characters to explain things to (and by proxy; the audience). and I'm glad that they went that route, instead of just narrating or dumbly expositing everything.

From my recollections, the whole Jean Grey/Madeline Pryor storyline was WAY different in the comics. Jean was thought dead, and Madeline ever posed as Jean. She just happened to be a woman who looked like Jean, so Scott was attracted to her. Glad to see they're changing it up to make it fresh. Also - is it 'Mad-a-leen', or 'Mad-a-line'? You change it up a couple of times. To me, I've always read it as 'Mad-a-line'.

The book & painting frame that magneto lifts up are both yellow, which should mean they're made of Gold, Copper, Bronze, etc? None of those are magnetic? (I refuse to believe Charles Xavier, bougie ass mansion owner, had fake gold in his house) Is Magneto typically able to control non-magnetic metals?
