yeah, malenia is the first boss in any fromsoft game that took me over a day to beat. i had to sleep on it to realize you have to dodge into waterfowl dance and never away. she's truly built different.

You know, with my magic build and the fact that the only reason I beat this boss is thanks to 2 marvelous people that helped me in the fight, I was starting to doubt myself and feeling like I actually sucked at the game. Watching super repeatedly die in 3 hits and getting one-shot is making me feel way better

I love going against magic build because the second you get near them they just crumple. In fact the only mages who pose a threat is ones that need help from other people. But even then I just smash em with my big hammer and then I win.

You know.. i respect this grind and hustle. My mental is weak. I ran a magic build and used my mimic summon to 2nd try her. I used stars of ruin and ranni's dark moon in p1 and dropped meteorite of astel with plask buff in p2.

I hate how gatekeepy souls fans can be. If it's in the game then use it. Summons and magic are intentional game design and the purists shouldn't judge you for winning using them. You beat malenia because you used the tools given to you. Great work

@@tmdbn I very much agree, but there is another angle that is just as ridiculous. I've personally known people that will ridicule me for taking so long on a fight because I chose to play it melee solo, while they killed it in 10 minutes of attempts with magic. Now, I don't give a damn if people beat the game with magic or summons, the most important part is after all, enjoying the experience, but those same people can also not belittle my abilities just because I choose to play a harder build, and thus take longer on fights.

I truly can't imagine how goddamn difficult she must have been going in 100% blind. She took me 200 attempts solo, and that was after I had already seen people fight her dozens of times before I even bought the game. I looked up a tutorial on how to dodge Waterfowl after my first 10 or so attempts, too. If I didn't have that knowledge going in? No idea how long it would have taken me.

I’m barely able to believe she was that hard for you. If not for just how many people insist she’s one of the hardest bosses in gaming I’d have just dismissed her after winning on my second attempt blind. I did not find any other major boss so easy. Shows how awesome FromSoft is at creating a diverse game environment when players can have such drastically differing experiences with the same content.

Still is to be honest. She has no poise when you’re solo so I stunlocked her. With two people though? Hoo boy, she was coming for revenge.

I actually did better once I removed radagons soreseal and changed the levels a bit to make up for it. Honestly the extra dmg you take is noticeable in this fight. Erdtree talisman helped me more

Soreseal gives levels, erdtree talisman increases stats by a percentage value. This means that soreseal gets worse as your level gets higher (due to diminishing marginal returns on levels) and erdtree talisman gets better.

I'd say its a different kind of difficulty. Sekiro has no stamina management and focuses on reflexes and response time, ER and Dark Souls are slower, less "reactive" and more about stamina management, waiting for an opening and learning patterns

@@danyf7429 yea I played through fallen order and sekiro before moving to ds3. Isshin probably took me like 15 tries to beat, and then I run into pontiff sulyvahn, a MID GAME boss, takes me what felt like at least 70-80 tries. Needless to say I prefer sekiro’s deflect rythmic combat to souls games dodging.

I have a tonne of tips for you. First off. I'm glad you're using the right sword. Bhfang is the tits. Now. You can barely ever get an attack in on her unless she's on a cooldown from a delayed attack. Otherwise she will pretty much hit you back every time and she hurts you more than you hurt her and as you know she plays bloodborne while you're on elden ring. So the attacks you can punish in the first phase are the attack where she jumps up leaps forward and stabs in front of her. Roll into that stab and you'll get 3 hits When she does the jumping upward slash followed by the downward slash. Roll back from the upward slash and roll into the down slash then punish with 3 hits. Thats it there are no other windows for attack that I can see in the first phase and I've beaten her about 60 times now. She usually does waterfoul dance every time she loses a quarter of her health bar. Just get her to that point and then make distance and bait it out of her cause otherwise she will be a dick and wait til you're cued up for an attack and be like hahahahahaha you thought... In the second phase. The windows for riposte ad basically the same attacks however in the 2nd phase there's about an 80% chance she will follow those attacks up with a jumping downward thrust into the puff of scarlet rot. Roll twice into her so you can get round the back of her when the rot puff goes off and she will miss and then you can punish with 3 hits. When she does the scarlet rot aeonia attack you can wait until the flower is mostly faded away and run in for 3 hits while she gets back up. She will do it like 3 times. As long as you basically stick to that she is easy

very impressive. you did it with bloodhound fang and no mimic. i overleveled the shit out of myself AND used mimic and i think rivers of blood and it still took me like 6 or 7 hours. i think most of the people how 'got gud' just cheese her with some op weapon. you did it the true mans way. congrats.
