Assuming the world works in a similar way to UT, Kris at the very least needs our DT to live. Otherwise it's likely they'd be stuck listless on a corner, if not dead. Unlike Flowey, they don't have industrial amounts of DT inside them, so soullessness is like trying to cross a desert with only the condensation outside a sealed ice bottle

And also, I really hope that the feeling of helplessness in this song gets explored more in canon, because it really is the heart scene that relays how desperate Kris is. Desperate enough to rip out their own soul, just for that tiny bit of control, that for all we know was short enough that they could barely eat a pie back in chapter 1. It was when we finally realized that they were someone other than us.

The Player is controlling everything they do and they are willing to rip out our Soul just for a little bit of freedom.

The haunting genius of this is the line between immersion in the game and the fact that it's just a game, making us essentially part psychopaths to anyone in the game. Sure, we all love these characters, but we also love to see the fun dialogue and fights in the darker, yet darker (lol) routes. It's all a game to us. No matter how attached you get, so long as that game is downloaded, all it takes is a bored day and some intrusive thoughts. I wonder how long till you get bored :)

in the white text it says "I don't want this anymore than you do, stuck in a cage where I cannot move." while also in white text it says "For I walk not on my own will." so I believe that the voice of Kris and the player change color in the subtitles.

⁠@@desktop977 I think the opposite tbh The Player’s lyrics seem to acknowledge and feel bad for what they’re doing to Kris, while also highlighting that it’s not their fault because this was Kris’s idea in the first place. So it feels like evidentlyfresh thinks Kris is the Second Voice (The one who discards your vessel and sticks you with Kris), hence them both walking not on their wills; The Player doesn’t want to hurt Kris but has to see where the game’s story goes, and Kris is self-explanatory

I bet Kris would enjoy some of the more mischievous dialogue options, they’re known to be a prankster

I always chose that option because it's funny to see Alphys believe Kris and Susie are having sex.

​@@chaotixthefox alright i just made up a whole theory about this is the case, if i missed something that counters what im about to say please tell me So what i think this is is that the player doesnt have that deep of a control in reality, you choose what Kris will say, but not how they will, like after the Spamton NEO fight where they scream the "no" option, or how if you choose to fight Undyne in her house, even if it isnt the fake attack option, you will still deal only 1 damage, and as the original comment, they straight up refuse to laugh at Snowdrake's mom, the thing these have in common is that its the Pacifist route, in which Frisk only has 1 LV, the same as Kris in the light world, i think that LV works like this The less LV, the more freewill to the one being controlled, at LV 1 Frisk refuses to do things for us and Kris straight up rips us out Anywhere before LV 19 there is the Player, which we have mostly full control over the body we inhabit, except for the times we walk during a character talking and start a battle during genocide, in which we have the Highest LV possible And at high levels, there is Chara, like when we get to LV 20 we dont have control over our actions inside of battle i might have missed something though, havent played undertale in ages lol

I’ve had this hope since the end of Chapter 2. I really, really want Deltarune to end with the permanent shattering of the soul. I want Kris to have their life back and think it’d be a very Toby move for the only way for that to happen to be the death of the player. I’d especially like it if it was Kris themself who shattered us, to show them being the one to break themself free of us. Man, Kris is my favorite character and I actively want them to literally kill me. I wonder what that says about my psyche-

@@BlindStarLily I've got my own hopes. See, my hope is that we and Kris will be able to co exist. What do I mean by this. Well, remember we have a vessel we made its just somewhere. I think by the end of the game our vessel will be found and we will leave kris. Kris gets his life back and we have our own body. We both get to live.

@@thenobody7509 That’s totally valid. Your idea sparked one in my brain. Okay so there’s tons of theories about the final boss of DR being either Gaster or Ralsei. While I adore both of these ideas and would cry particularly hard if it were the latter, another thought popped up. Kris. Kris is the final boss. Can you imagine that? We pilot the vessel and they have their body back and it’s a one on one, real time event like the Undyne chase sequences and the Lancer attack at the beginning of Chapter 1. Just us and our self preservation, and Kris and their pent up rage and the scars of how traumatized they’ve become by us. Bet the music for that would be absolutely killer, pun intended ;)

@@DeltaBlazin I still think Kris is white, because the "Something inside you" Line is like the soul telling Kris that, despite how they are CURRENTLY free, theres always that small part in the back of their head saying "Y'know...maybe it WOULDNT be so bad to be controlled..." And the "Stuck with a heart that is tearing you apart" line could just be the soul referring to itself in the third person.

I honestly think that Kris and the player are changing colors such in the beginning where Kris was white then he turned red, while the opposite happened with the player.

Chapter 1 end ate a pie(cause they prob didnt eat all day cause dark world food doesn't fill you up also to make toriel cook a pie next day would give them a reason to wash there hands and rip out there soul the next day) Chapter 2 opened a dark fountain with said knife slashed the tires and opened the door my guess is because A kris slashed the tires to make toriel call the cops and to make sure susie wont ask toriel the to take her to ther house B kris opened a dark fountain to show both undyne and toriel they exist C kris opened the door to give the police a reason to go inside the house and go inside the dark fountain

@@Z0neXDthebestI think from a thematic perspective (especially with the parallels to undertale) using they/them solely for Kris is very interesting as they’re not a self insert unlike frisk and arguably chara, those two are you or an extension of you, you are their every move and they don’t even exist outside of your control. Kris on the other hand is very much their own person, they have likes, dislikes, friends, memories, motivations that we the players didn’t give them, even their name is not ours but theirs. Then being non-binary would be the same as if they’d been referred to as ‘he’ or ‘she’ throughout the game, although they can be used for anyone I would think one of the characters would’ve slipped a gendered pronoun in if it wasn’t at least meant to be a possibility
