unfortunately, it's very penis-like and has little feedback for the people using it compared to a staff weapon or p90 prop and needs to have effects added in post, so most of the cast don't like it, which is why it got used at little as possible

Outstanding stopping power, non-lethal capability, bypasses most armor, minimal collateral damage risk, large magazine capacity, extremely lightweight, concealable, increases in damage delivered with every subsequent hit, highly effective against electronic systems, can remove pesky corpses when you want to eliminate patrols while going undiscovered. What more could you ask for in a sidearm?

Kind of smart to just call his bluff, the Ashrak could have killed Daniel but he knew he had to prioritize trying to take down Teal'c to avoid being stunned and failing his mission.

@@plaguemaster308 True, but you missed the point. The weapon is not dumb, because it's advanced alien technology, it's dumb, because the weapon doesn't make much sense. To be fair, we don't have a real explanation how it's work, but yeah the functionality of the weapon changes a lot of times and the third shots makes little sense at all.

they had *one* setting and required multiple uses to get results. Oddly, the mechanic makes sense in a tabletop RPG like D&D(particularly 3rd Ed). It's just hitting HP damage thresholds, which is why some people can tank multiple hits before going

I bet that if the Zat had possessed a mode switch between Stun, Kill & Disintergrate; the conversation over its coolness or non-coolness wouldn't exist. From a weapon standpoint, being able to choose to just disintergrate opponents on first shot would be handy, or stun them over & over again XD.

@jimtaylor294
@jimtaylor294 Жыл бұрын
@@theenigma7290 Not really, as a Zat has one thing a Phaser doesn't; indirect fire. For instance: if sn enemy is behind cover but the terrain is wet, an indirect hit would still take him out. Heck: fighting any enemy in the rain that has a Zat would be a disaster.

Stunning is more than efficient in the beginning of the series, back when they used to incapacitate for several minutes to hours or whatever specified time but later in the series they end up recovering in seconds... Being able to set it purely to stun would be huge tho, that would solve so many of the issues they faced in the series like here tealc wouldn't have had to kill the assassin and could instead repeatedly stun him. Lotta moments where they are essentially forced to kill high profile targets in a kill or be killed situations too where if they could keep stunning they'd be able to interrogate and gain invaluable information... I don't get why they simply forgot about the disintegrate option tho, like how many times did they end up killing a system lord only to leave his body behind so he could be resurrected with a sarcophagus again... That indirectly caused countless deaths not ending the threat when they had the opportunity, they already killed him so why not dispose of the body too? Not much of a moral issue there even if they want to play hero...
@jimtaylor294
@jimtaylor294 Жыл бұрын
@@DrakeOola Well put. Not to mention being able to stun repeatedly - with all the pain that'd cause yhe target - is also something the Goauld would logically be all for, ironically. (given the whole terror & intimidation angle their weaponry is typically based around)
