The fact that anyone even cared in the first place is so silly. Doing your own thing and being 'out there' is what it's always been about. She was far from the most pearl-clutching artist at the time. If she hadn't been a disney kid I don't think anyone would have even noticed.

I was not as surprised when I first heard this to hear her range. I was more surprised about the tonal quality. Singing pop just brings out a very different sound in her voice. Nah man, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell are some vocal legends of rock. She needs to definitely take the real rock path and get away from pop The band name Temple of the Dog comes from the lyrics of Mother Love Bones song 'Man of Golden Words' which is essentially a tribute to music itself. Temple of the Dogs was a one album tribute to Mother Love Bones singer Andrew Wood who died after taking what's called a hot shot (tainted heroin) a shit load of people in Seattle that week died from the same batch. Mother Love Bones opening act who was influenced by them was Alice In Chains, after Wood died, the band basically became two new legendary bands, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. The whole thing is ride with straight up rock legends.

She was just 16 years old & still doing Hannah Montana. I figured no adult would listen & realize what a gift she has & I was right. It would take another (4) years (2013) & a naked video ("Wrecking Ball") before the world paid attention. @@mysonandme8424 the greatest vocally emotionally incredible thing is from Linkin Park with One More Light at the Kimmel's show (a tribute to Chris Cornell too). This, this is so painful

There's the emotion I've been waiting for from her. She's a Chris fan. Sweet! Chris would be so blown away to hear this rendition of his song. Beautifully performed. ❤️

This reminds me of the time I saw Pink open for Lenny Kravitz in the early 2000s. I was not looking forward to her show because I was there for rock and roll. And then towards the end of her set she covered a couple Janis Joplin songs and I left that show with a newfound respect for Pink!!

I still can't listen to this without it making me teary. This is just such a beautiful tribute to Chris, she was incredible. I never even listened to her music before I heard this a year ago and had no interest in doing so. Now, I'm a full on Miley fan. 👍

Yeah, once I allowed myself to look at Miley in a 'not Disney' light I realized the woman comes with power, soul, and true talent. IDC, I think she is great and her rendition of this, and her other powerful covers, are absolutely stellar.
