Than you can go to the next skill, and it becomes muscle memory, and then the next, and the next... Also @CBell is an amazing coach. I was thinking the same. Also as an older player who has family to support. I can relate on how hard it is to learn mechanical stuff. Finding time and opportunities to learn and being able to play consistently when you can only play hour or 2 here or there and often late when kids sleep. Best of luck to this gold.. I hope he makes it.

@@roicekettu9110 I’m the same way. I started playing in 2018and climbed pretty quickly to high diamond, peaking at C2. This was when I was working 3rd shift before I had a child. So all day the wife’s at work and I could just wake up and play. Now I work days and have 3 year old with another on the way. I still get playing time in but not as much. I now sit around low C1 in 3s and I just recently climbed to high C1 in 2s hoping to get that C2 back. I’ve noticed my mechanics dropping. Everywhere from poor wave dashes to awful shot accuracy. My positioning and recoveries is the only thing keeping me where I’m at while better mechanical players are passing me.

@@fabreasy304 worst part is that when your kid is 3. Daddy can only play when he is tired. You probably know that you can do better but tings just don't click. Reactions are slow and brain works in slow mo.. When you play few games with clear head you feel like God of Rocket League. My youngest is now 5 years old. My 11 years old is lucky if he can beat high bronze player's, but some of his friends are starting to get closer to gold-plat lvl. Soon I can't shut them up from bragging how good they are. Kids are sometimes brutal to their friends.

@@roicekettu9110 my kiddo is really really into cars. So I’ll give him my broken controller and he can drive around on Forza very well. Opens the menu switches cars with no problem. I’ll toss him in free play on rocket league and watch him drive around hitting the ball and falling off the ceiling. Just stick away from the gun games but he’s now learned how to download stuff off the game pass and navigate the Xbox menus. It’s actually turned into bonding time we he will sit in my lap and play while talking to me and pointing at the tv. He loves it.

@@reillylicha5358 aye brotha I was there myself last year. My suggestion would be practice on some training packs for shooting consistently.(which I still need more work on myself) an the warmup pack by hintana or how ever it is spelled. An the one thing that helps the most is playing 1v1s. Its hard I know but it will help in learning to 50/50 an when to go back an defend. I went from bronze last league in 1s to silver 2 div 3 in one's this season. Now don't get me wrong tho u will get tilted at times (lord know I do.) An my main thing rn is turning off quick chat. Its distracting at lower ranks imo. Thank you brotha an I wish you the best in getting that gold rank. I mostly lurk on RL videos, but honestly this is such a refreshing take on a series like this. I really would love to see more CC or Pros do series like this where they bless someone in a low rank with knowledge, and help them achieve the ranks they want. In my opinion, this is the best content because we know that cc and pros are typically high level (cbell is gc, wayton is gc, spookluke is gc, etc) and I feel like this will slowly revitalize or add some amazing content to RL youtube. Honestly someone commented about this being the perfect person and I agree, and I'm really looking forward to this series as a whole. I'm excited for Ray and can't wait to see what he achieves. Hey CBell, I absolutely love this idea for a series, and love who you picked even more! As a production quality idea, I might suggest having Ray get a mic/getting Ray a mic if possible. As a series creative idea, you could document his progress interactively with your audience to drive engagement - like him vs a plat player now, then him vs a plat player in 2 months to see the difference (of course to be the plat player, you have to comment for engagement).

This is an absolutely massive commitment, but also an incredible idea for a series. I hope it works out and you both stick with it. Sheesh though, GC is no small feat, and starting in Gold as a non-mechanical player... it's going to be a effing grind. I think you can probably get him ranking up pretty quickly through coaching him through the mental parts of the game, but there's no shortcut for mechanics. I will be very interested to see when improvements in gamesense stop being effective at ranking up and mechanics becomes the core limiting factor. In any case, it will certainly be interesting to watch and I wish both you and Ray the best on this journey.

It takes something spectacular for me to comment on KZfaq videos. This is that time. Using your time and talents to teach us lower level people with legitimate training... I'm speechless. Good job. Excited for the rest of the series to come out.

I love this series, as someone who 6 years ago floated diamond, but am now also a married guy with toddlers now floating low plat and gold, can highly relate to Ray! Please in your future videos keep alot of the tips and coaching talk in. Maybe I can learn along side with Ray and make it Champs with him from watching these!

If you're a lower rank than you were previously, you should really just focus on rotation and getting consistent.

I'll be the opposite of most comments, and I just wanna say I've solo queued to GC twice, and still SUCK at dribbling, only air roll on recoveries, and mess up my half flip 75% of the time. I think Ray absolutely can do this! Great video.

It would be awesome if you could post the entirety of your training sessions that way us other non grand champs can pick up all the knowledge you pass down. I know it sounds ridiculous, but some of the super simple stuff you dont find important to post could be the thing to help advance us! Thanks for all the help!

As a 47 year old father that's Plat 2 in 2s and currently trying to solo grind out of Gold (again!) into Plat in 3s this is very relatable. Looking forward to the progress!

The production of this video is absolutely insane. You always make good videos Cbel but literally IMHO this is the best edited video on your channel. It's flawless. Absolutely flawless. If you did this congrats, if an editor did it hats off to your editor. Pay them more forsure

I love to see the direct coaching, it's hard to take a KZfaq tutorial and just apply it, so seeing how to find mistakes and correct them with a real example (not just doing it bad on purpose) is super helpful. Really looking forward to this series, great story and concept.

I always watch these types of videos cuz even as a diamond I still lack some of the skills that you are teaching newer players. It makes me rethink how I’ve been practicing and so far I have been about to have a lot better chemistry with my duo

I knew I was Plat level. When I picked up the game last year I went straight to aerial gameplay because I didn't even know the game had specific mechanics you need to use to actually play well. I can hit aerial goals but didn't know how to ground dribble, didn't even know something like air dash or half flip were a thing. 5 minutes of practicing the new mechanics plus a Plat friend who was on my level of game sense, I finally broke the Gold barrier and hit Plat 1. Thank you for this series, seeing the guy progress and learning the new mechanics broke a 1 year Gold deficit🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Tell me why I was practicing air dribbling when I don't even how to hit flick shots and dribble the ball on the ground 😂😂 I did this whole thing backwards
