@@aelitastones1 yeah, the first one was much better that the other two. I'm still liking it so far, but it's not the same. I miss the comishion duo, and the old woman. The series were funnier then and they also had more heart. I hate Lila's character to be honest, she is so annoying. I liked when Diego's love interest was a mature and responsible woman with a respectable job.

@@zachhollins604 imo there was no build up to this scene. It felt so random. It’s bc the actor is trans so the writers wanted the actor to feel comfortable, however, there were no indications ever shown that the actor’s character was trans up until his coming out scene.

I think that scene realistically highlighted how a trans person coming out affects those around them. It is difficult to completely change how you see someone, or know how best to act towards that person, even if you do fully support and love them. As someone who has experienced two friends coming out as trans, these scenes are accurate in their awkwardness.

It’s totally understandable to go through that “oh shoot, you’re a new person” deal when you’ve only ever known them as their former self.

Trans individuals will always tell you “it’s who i’ve always been.” This is true, but also, the way they presented themselves formerly is essentially a mask. Although they remain in the same body, sometimes trans people look at theirselves as a “different person.” This could also even be a coping mechanism to escape any trauma or abuse or anything from the past they don’t like. So it really depends! And it’s not something people expect you to know either. It’s not polite to ask, and all you can really do is assume unless they correct you.

It's a female name in some countries. Also, Vanya is a kind way of saying Ivan. And there is also a female name Ivana. And all of these names are originated from John or Yohanan, so if you really want to connect it all it will be Ivana-Ivan as a Slavic and Vanya-John/Ian/Yohanan as a European.

That's the extreme side. I would have loved too see a few more questions about it. The acceptance felt too quick coming from diego/5 and Allison who generally have a hard time accepting changes. Klaus is character makes sense to react like that.

I'm sure their brother being trans really no big deal. Plus Allison just got back from dealing with discrimination in the 60s, so I bet she didn't want anyone else to feel that. Even if Five had an issue with it, he's too tired to care. Diego has always cared for all of them and never wants any of them to feel unloved, even though he can lose his cool, this doesn't seem like the sort of thing to set him off. It's just nice to see them being so open

My brother is trans, my ex partner is trans too and I've known both before they came out as trans. It came as a slight surprise, but I'm not upset with them or anything, I'm just happy they are comfortable enough with me to share that with me. I think it's nice that Elliot now plays a man, I bet he's more comfortable this way, and it's also just cool to see healthy trans representation. This wasn't rushed and it felt natural. Is the real problem not cishet people assuming everyone to be cis and heterosexual? As a queer person I'm not surprised at all when I meet another lgbtq+ person or see someone come out on a tv show, maybe I feel a bit excited, but most of the time I just find it normal. People who don't find it normal probably don't know many trans people (or lgbtq+ ppl in general) in real life

I think it definitely would’ve been Diego he offends everybody and doesn’t care. That could’ve been a fun moment of conflict that they would’ve had to work through naturally which would’ve been a great opportunity for viewers to see how things can be worked through when they’re uncomfortable. But no. Completely unrealistic instead.

I think part of it was for the plot to move quickly without making a big deal out of Viktor’s transition, and also because having any protagonists be transphobic would ruin the character. So it’s understandable that they would just write everyone to be super accepting. And also the Umbrellas a family with superpowers and much bigger problems so it’s probably not a big deal to them 😂 In my opinion it was a bit unrealistic that Harlan accepted it so quickly - “Allison called you Viktor, is that what I should call you?” - given that he grew up in Texas in the 60s. But again his character is meant to be loved and sympathized with and it wouldnt work if he was written as a bigot

Or I think maybe they could’ve at least shown other characters accidentally slipping up on the name/pronouns out of habit, which is really common and not malicious. But idk maybe the showrunners needed this part to not interfere with the main plot too much and wanted to move past it quickly, which is unrealistic, but understandable from a writing perspective

But then, again, I like the challenge to make my characters seem relatable and self-aware, and true to their idiosyncrasies. Especially when Allison lost it on victor, I think that would’ve been a great opportunity because Allison was stepping over the line and even the siblings were like OK “we don’t fight like this”.

Narcissism is a love of one's own self--Elliot Page did not tell them to change the character; the creators changed the character as a gesture of acceptance and love for Elliot.
