@@mysticalbeing8943 what makes him poorly written? What makes him dull and boring? You've pretty much just answered the question with he's poorly written because he's badly written. Can you describe what makes him poorly written? From my perspective he is incredibly well written. He starts his journey as a happy go lucky adventurous kid who wants to fight. He then sees his dad get killed in front of him and is taken over by the idea of getting revenge and that consumes him but also drives him on to become an amazing warrior/assassin. He is being used by his fathers killer but he doesn't care as long as he gets a chance to kill him. Then he never gets his revenge and that destroys him. He could have fought his way out but doesn't care anymore to do so. Then he's forced to come to terms with the killing he did realising he's no better than the man who killed his father. He also builds a friendship with another slave and begins to regain his humanity which he lost. He swears off fighting and killing. He wants to make a place like our society today without fighting and killing. He literally took a huge beating from someone never fighting back but never giving up which takes way more courage than fighting back as an expert fighter. He is an insanely well written character. Is it possible you are just bias against him because you don't like him now? Because objectively he is a far better written character than pretty much everyone on that list. Ffs people put luffy so high up and for what? The man has 3 feelings hungry happy and angry. He's your stereotypical b tier shounen character. Goku is even worse. The best words to describe him is ignorant and oblivious. The reality is is that thorfinn, guts and spike are probably the best written characters on that list.

Thorfinn went through literal hell and took 2 entire seasons to actually become a character that can truly be considered "good".
