So, in the book they make it much more explicit that wills immune system is shot- he constantly gets ill and is in and out of the hospital with illnesses(ex the pneumonia). He doesn’t choose to end his life only because of being a paraplegic but more because he doesn’t want to be on medication/tubed up/ on a ventilator. His nurse also makes it clear that these illnesses get worse each time it happens. I wish they made that clearer in the film.

You missed the most important point of the movie and the Book, it's maybe not explicit enough. Will is always in the hospital suffering of sickness because of his immune system and as his nurse said it gets worse every single time. He's not only suffering mentaly because he's in a wheelchair, he is in pain almost all the time and he spends so much time in the hospital with machines branched on him. Just imagine suffering each time more than before with no hope of it stoping. It's way much more than him being in a wheelchair, it's his life that is just pain and sickness again and again

Me Before You is basically saying Louisa was (Me) before she met Will (You). The movie didn't also mention the part where he said "you are not enough" in the sense that even though you can see Will falling for Louisa and loving her, she is not enough for him to stay because his pain is just so much. He didn't want to burden her with him being a paraplegic.

Please watch “Love, Rosie” and “Daisy Jones and the Six” if you haven’t yet. They both have Sam Claflin and they’re so good!!!!

I watched this in the theaters with my friend, and I figured he wouldn’t survive the end of the movie pretty early on. But my friend unfortunately didn’t, and was literally shell shocked when the movie ended 😂 She was so upset, and I had to console her for awhile after. At least I had the whole movie to come to terms with it 😅

I read the book first because I like to do it if I have the time and I was a teen back then (I had the time more than now that's for sure) and when I read the ending? I hated everything, I felt robbed! And hopeless. But the movie? The movie saved it, gave it colour and I understood why it had to be the way it was. So yeah, Emilia saved it for me ALSO because she made me realize what career path was the one I wanted and I had been pondering all my life; I wanna be an stylist and you need to know about fashion design for it too, so I'm forever grateful for the book and her character, and the movie adaptation of it too of course. I owe it big time. Wouldn't read it again tho

Fun fact I've actually met/seen Mr Sir Tywin Lannister at my local sainsburys parking lot. He was with his wife and child. My older brother is actually the GOT fan so the whole time he was just like "should i go up no i shouldn't. Lemme not disturb the man" it was so cute. Unfortunately he didn't go up but we basically ended up looking at each other cos we were walking the same direction and he smiled at us.

About Louisa, one of the saddest things in the books (and that they cut it off from the movie bc it was already too sad) it's that she has that choice of clothes to "hide" herself, bc when she was like a teenager, she was abused in the castle garden (if I'm not mistaken), and she never told anyone. It's terrible, but it made more sense of how she dresses that way, trying not to be "too atractive" anymore (of course that's not a motive, but she explains to him that she felt safier that way) :(

You should definitely watch Before Sunrise, or even betterz rhe Before trilogy!! 😭 You'll fall inlove with the characters, the aesthetic, the vibes, dialogue, everything. It feels so natural and the chemistry between the two actors is spectacular. I really think you'd enjoy it

I’ve only been able to watch this movie once. I went to the movies with a friend (she read the book, I didn’t, still haven’t), and we were a MESS by the end. Same with La La Land. Only been able to watch it once for the same reason: it breaks my heart, but I still claim it is my favorite movie.

Me before You is such a good title. in my interpretation it could be mean " I'll go first before you, I'll age first before you, I'll put my life first before you, I'll die first before you" Such a good title.

As someone who is disabled who almost committed suicide, I very much understand Will. I'm not nearly as bad off. I can still walk and move, but the constant daily pain that no one can heal is exhausting. At first, no longer being able to run or pick up my daughter devastated me. And when I had to stop working and enroll my baby in daycare bc I couldn't physically care for her without assistance, I lost all hope. I'm in a much better place now, but losing your ability to exist as you did before is a type of grief so few people or have compassion for. I loved this movie before I became disabled. I love it even more through the lens of a wheelchair and bed bound person experiencing constant pain. The point is that quality of life is more important than quantity. It doesn't matter how long I live, as long as I live well. I've putline the parameters of what I consider a good quality of life. If i am too bad off that I can't meet them, I don't want to be alive. Fortunately for me, I have children and a husband I needed to stay for. ❤ so here I am.

There is no need to change people's personalities even if they become paralyzed. Your personality is more likely to change if you have a stroke. So if someone in your life has an accident that leaves them paralyzed afterwards, they most likely still have the same personality.

This is a hot take. I thought the guy was extremely manipulative and selfish. Why on earth would you stir up love for someone only to just leave them ? He knew that this girl was falling in love with him, and every step of the way he did not remind her of his choice. that wasn’t going to change his mind. Why was he being messy with her relationship when he knew he was going to suicide? She might need that boyfriend’s shoulder to cry on, after he killed himself.

I usually watch eastern romance media so it gets really difficult for me to get into romantic specially romcom stuff from here, the love is not that believable for me but this movie got me. I one hundred percent believed that this is reality and Alex and Henry are made for each other. so, I regard this movie highly. hopefully, it might be up to your taste too!
