Most stuff I buy is cheap. Especially with moving out soon I'll have to learn to budget food properly. One of the only things I buy branded is mayonnaise, but I think we all like a handful of things that aren't cheap.

I love how little it takes to impress her, bless her heart♥️. However, I am gonna say this. I buy a lot of non-branded food and make delicious food out of it. Buying food that isn't pricey or isn't branded, doesn't mean it has to come out of a can or look like this. You can make fresh delicious food on a budget, it's all about being creative. I recommend shaking your beans before you open them - the juice is evenly distributed and you can easily get all the beans out without having to scrape the stragglers off the bottom

I'm rewatching all your food videos because they are so fun! I lived in the UK as a student for 5 years and I got used to all those cheaper food options (as well as the reduced section)...sad thing is, now that I'm back in Luxembourg, shopping for food has been so expensive. We do have Lidl here, but it still feels more pricey than in the UK...

There was a big news story a few years back about this. Someone bought some potato hoops from aldi, and inside the bag were little bags of hula hoops! Turns out they're made in the same factory, but different packaging, so the branded ones can be sold for more. Same thing with jam tarts; my dad was fixing a machine in the Kipling factory, and saw one machine with Kipling boxes and another with Sainsburys Basics boxes! Same product, but the branded one can sell for more because people trust it. It's insane! always go cheaper, cause 9/10 times it's gonna be the exact same product or of the same quality.

same! i searched 36 pounds to sgd (i live in singapore) and it showed the conversion to a whooping 61 sgd for a loaf of bread so i am assuming the p is in cents as well as.

Putting 'p' after a number is short for pence which is the plural for penny. There are 100 pennies(or pence) in a pound like how there are 100 cents in a dollar. As for food being overpriced in the US, you need to keep conversion rates in mind. Despite brexit's best attempts, a pound is still worth more than a US dollar - right now, £1 is worth $1.23.
