The most expensive steak at Outback Steakhouse is the 22-oz. Melbourne Porterhouse, which is both a filet mignon and a New York strip steak, and it costs $38.99. Along with the Porterhouse, we ordered the 9-oz. Sirloin & Ribs combo for $30.99, and the new Aussie-tizer, the Bloomin' Fried Shrimp, for $13.49.

I do agree they oversalt their food. Especially the salads for some odd reason. It’s nice that they now offer the baked potato with unsalted jacket as an option. I like the Victoria filet, it’s generally quite good. Prime rib is good too.

The Melbourne Porterhouse is actually called a T-Bone Steak here in Australia. I once had a Thai meal that had so much salt that it was inedible, we didn't complain as the meal only cost a few dollars in Thailand and we just went elsewhere. You need to call the cooks to account for spoilt food, you are paying enough money to warrant it.
@johnweimer3249
@johnweimer3249 Жыл бұрын
We actually call them both Porterhouse and T-bones in America but in fact they are two different steaks. Same part of the animal but the porterhouse comes from the rear end of the short loin where the T-bone comes from the front end of the short loin, they are similar in flavor but they are different in size. The T-bone is always smaller and will typically have a much smaller tenderloin portion. At a high end steakhouse when you get a steak for two that is typically a porterhouse.
@RiverDanube
@RiverDanube Жыл бұрын
@@johnweimer3249 We have Porterhouse but never with a bone. Generally the Eye fillet is the best cut, Scotch Fillet is next and Porterhouse and T-bone are on par. No doubt the meat is graded when sold at slaughter but when sold by the butcher or the supermarket it isn't which is a disgrace and it's either pot luck for the buyer or reliance on the seller to provide consistent product.

I have not been to Outback in 5 years. Before that I went at least twice a month. My reason, well it was Valentine's day, (evening). Waited 90 minutes to be seated, then over an hour for the food. Then the food was cold like it had been sitting out for over 30 minutes. Last, but not least they were out of 3 of the main steaks when we ordered. Now they did comp the meal. I still tipped the waitress as I watched her working her tail off. Both my son and daughter worked there while in college so I know how important it is to support these people working so hard. Besides it wasn't her fault. She actually teared up and thanked me. But in all honesty I would rather have paid and had an awesome experience.

You have to get it medium rare to enjoy a good cut of steak. Remember that steaks keep cooking even after they're off the grill. By the time you get that "medium" steak to your table it's well done.

I disagree, both me and my Father like our steaks done to medium well. Everyone has a different opinion of how to cook a steak, I think medium to medium well is the way to go, so it's just my opinion. I would personally never eat a steak cooked to medium raw.

I do agree with the salt thing. The bloom breading, whether it be on the bloomin onion or the bloomin fried chicken, etc, is very tasty but also very salty at times. Sometimes things are over salted and over peppered in the kitchen such as the chicken on the barbie or a steak.

Haven't eaten there in well over 5 years way before all this rapid inflation stuff started. I had noticed that the Outback I went to in MD (for work travel) looked like it was holding on to the price point for the Sirloin. Instead of raising the price for a reasonable quantity of steak, they preferred to trim it down to to keep the entry level price and price separations. I ordered medium rare as usual (in hopes of just getting a medium)...it was just 'ok' from what I remember. Since I'm a grilling junkie and nerd (and smoke a really high quality brisket as well), and can pull off what most of what these restaurants do at home for just 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of going out...I never really go to any steakhouses now. It's going to be interesting to see whether these chain restaurants will be able to survive without 95% perfection as the prices still continue to go up. Customer expectations are going to continue creeping up to with those prices. I probably would have sent that steak back and told them that I'm leaving and not to bother fixing it. Those of us that were used to dining at the rate of $50-$60 for 2 (without alcohol) and were ok with little occasional mistakes are going to need to get used to dining at the same places for $60-$90 (and now being expected to tip up to 25% instead of 20%) now with mistakes almost guaranteed every time...your video perfectly exemplifies my frustration with going out for dinner now. We can afford to go out to dinner but we simply don't these days because the service and quality just isn't what it used to be.

@@gailsfoodandstuff you get great or sand as it's called implants because they were not clean properly before being used in the chowder by running cold water over said clams and scrubbing along the crack will force this sand or grit out of the rinse a couple of minutes but it is damn worth it when it comes to feeding a lot of people 🇺🇸

I now make THE BEST STEAK I’ve ever had! 🥩😊 And $38 buys a lot of steak 🥩 However someone did give us a $50 Outback Steakhouse gift card so that’s why I’m watching your video. It was helpful. 👍

I like outback or Logan’s over most chain steak houses. Of course though with inflation and shortage of staff it’s just better to cook at home. Outback does have a special on Wednesday that’s budget friendly. I would rather go buy a nice steak with shrimp or crab legs from the store and cook at home.
