About One Hour One Life
This game is about playing one small part in a much larger story. You only live an hour, but time and space in this game is infinite. You can only do so much in one lifetime, but the tech tree in this game will take hundreds of generations to fully explore.
This game is also about family trees. Having a mother who takes care of you as a baby, and hopefully taking care of a baby yourself later in life. And your mother is another player. And your baby is another player. Building something to use in your lifetime, but inevitably realizing that, in the end, what you build is not for YOU, but for your children and all the countless others that will come after you. Proudly using your grandfather's ax, and then passing it on to your own grandchild as the end of your life nears.
And looking at each life as a unique story. I was this kid born in this situation, but I eventually grew up. I built a bakery near the wheat fields. Over time, I watched my grandparents and parents grow old and die. I had some kids of my own along the way, but they are grown now... and look at my character now! She's an old woman. What a life passed by in this little hour of mine. After I die, this life will be over and gone forever. I can be born again, but I can never live this unique story again. Everything's changing. I'll be born as a different person in a different place and different time, with another unique story to experience in the next hour...

I've really enjoyed this episode! It's a whole story in one hour, how the old lady at start gave u her property but died instantly. Then u went to build ur own house and met Dia, she's a real nice lady even let u own her house and kinda take one of her daughters as a wife.Then comes the mysterious disappearance of her family. After that u started this business but got old and no one to inherit ur properties until the mysterious appearance of ur lil sis! (Where were ur mother? Haven't she noticed ya :0). I thought of filling the houses with berries or whatsoever, so u get ppl attention more easily and make deals. Then the marriage and how u made them inherit ur properties. It was really mysterious and fun at the same time! Ty for the video ^^

I would like to see a small change where you can put something like "My kids own this." and then all your kids have access without having to put their names in individually. Or "My descendants own this." then everyone descended from you owns it. This one should not be usable by an Eve though.

The problem with that (and kind of the problem with personal property in general) is that you never know who you might get as your child. It might be a decent player, or it might be someone who's only there to grief.

True. As long as there's a way to take someone off as owner then it isn't really too much of an issue. And as long as you can put someone as the main owner or set someone to succeed you as the main owner so they can take someone off, it wouldn't be too much of an issue.

I feel like Jason needs to change it so that if you're inside the area of property when it's created, you're automatically an owner. That way, you can gate off an entire city and everyone within it has ownership and can come and go as they please. Otherwise, you can effectively jail (and subsequently destroy) everyone in a city.

It takes 23+ minutes for the fence to become 'permanent', and even then someone needs to do maintenance on it or it falls apart. If you surrounded a city with a fence it would probably get removed before it's solid, and even if it did become solid it would fall apart very quickly after you'd die.

Imagine the game gets so big that property fences are used to wall off entire cities, or even nation states! Complete with a border patrol to keep the property defended and armed in case an unwanted person enters. You could have nested properties- one property inside of someone else's property. But, that kind of stuff can't happen as long as there's no good way to communicate to the entire family, E.G. a community board at the center of town that people can go check out for announcements and such

Recent updates made Ohol became more and more wholesome. It's a cookie drama series I can't stop watching lol. I think the fences(without the gate) can be used to organize crops and farms instead of lumping several types of seeds in the same area. It'll look nicer at least. Or better idea, MAKE A MAZE GAME where the goal is to find a path to the knife, the first person to reach it gets to kill the loser.

I'm kind of in the same boat - I was uncertain what to think of it, leaning slightly towards negative/useless. But after playing with them for a bit I really like them!

I think the property fence could lend itself well to a more structured profession system in towns! Hopefully, at least. I could put a property fence next to the sheep pen and be the town shepherd. When I grow old, or want to move on to a different occupation for the town, I can pass it on to someone else, possibly my child if I'm a woman. This makes me want to get back into the game!

Some people don’t like doing certain jobs. Maybe give them incentives? The point is to discuss the matter. Not immediately write it off as “dumb”. OP’s comment is interesting as essentially you’re putting value to your work and might need to barter for services. At the same time, people can just come and build their property fence around community projects to claim as their own. It’s definitely something that can be improved on, but very interesting to watch people’s interaction with it.

probably at eve villages they just abandoned you for being new but big towns will not. Though when I first started I knew the basics because of twisted videos exept farming I tryed to learn it on my own but never did and I accidently made the carrots to go to seed. I liked being an eve the most at the time even if I died so many times. I would take care of my kids the best I can even though I was new at the time. I think I only can take care of four kids before dieing when I was new. You can also learn how to make recipes in the tutorial even though they don't show it in the tutorial there is materals in the tutorial to learn. You can even make a bell which I learned how to make that. :)

I had a new person that did not know how to do carrots and soil and how to hoe it and pick them well he did pick them but left only one carrot when I needed a row for seeds. I told him leave one row to seed and that what he did. Watch out for killers today I had to deal with one not that I died from the killer I died of old age. But yesterday was the worst I had to deal with two different killers from different lifes and those two I died. :( rip me lol

You know, the biggest way to abuse this would be to put a gate around a town and then be the only person to own it and then leave it with it being closed and run away. If you can pull that off, it would cause a decent amount of problems.

Perhaps, but it can be easily broken in the first 23 minutes, and then it would fall apart when you die. So worst case scenario, the griefer starts building it when they;re 5, they finish it when they're 10, it's easily destroyed until they're 33, and it falls apart when they hit 60. So 27 minutes of being locked in if no one realizes they're locked in for the first 23 minutes. Not that bad

Ironically enough, I had internet connection problems as I was watching this, had to restart the video three times ^^; The fences do look like you could make nice little gardens with them :P but it's definitely problematic that they can be used to grief.

@@TwistedHBG Yep, that's what I was thinking... in real, it could have a disadvantage as well, if the one that built the fence let someone in, then removed its door "manager" grant, that person could be trapped. Would be a surprising, sly move though... As it's not like that, it'd be funny if you placed a basket of pie or something even better in there, leave the gate open, and wait for hungry/curious people to get in, to catch them in there...

While I do see the potential for problems, I also see a lot of things that can help. If there's a griefer in town, you could potentially hide in your house, lol. And if you're working on a project, like a backpack, just store your supplies so no one takes them. You could also stop babies from running away from you, they'd be forced to use the die command. Thus, no issues with cool down.

It seems that issue with the update is really the debate between communistic shared ownership and capitalist individuals ownership. This game is starting to become a representation of human development and it seems we are approaching the rise of the capitalist property ownership and the revolt from the communist against the ownership of land by capitalist. It will be interesting to see who wins the current shared ownership system of communism or the private property system of capitalism

Could this ownership be a way to keep sheep safe from griefers? A family could tend sheep and keep them from everyone and only trade the wool for other things. Good way to build specialization and force trade.

@Twisted - also please leave an area between fences so others can do road between, then there is no problen of ownership. This is how it is done in real towns too, I have adviced many by now about this and everyone understood the idea. When no road though it is prime for griefing so making road is also good/or if it is fast traverseable area all illegal fences will be cut down fast.

I'm like e, but I don't know who it was So this guy slipps into my property He had tried to get in before but So he gets in and starts picking up stuff So I'm like, Get out And then he picks up my ancestors bow, so I yeet, but somehow I get murdered when he wasn't even in my sight! And I was moving! I was far away I shouldn't have given him a chance Should've killed him He was fishy I've failed my legacy!!! There was many graves in my property, my family must have gone far back, I have failed those forgotten ancestors

i see the problem with this already, in those 2 boxes you are now keeping a plate, 3 bowls 2 baskets and a bucket away from the general population for up to an hour. its just gonna be idiots locked in boxes and shit stored away

I mean there was more than enough of those items in town. Even if I stole something super important like all the shovels, they can just kill me to get them back - or wait half an hour for the fence to collapse.

I have decent internet, 150 down/15 up with unlimited data (I use about 1 TB per month). I played another life after this and it worked fine, I guess the ISP just had some problems for a bit.

Use a flint chip on a long straight branch to get the twigs, and then just place the twigs where you want them - rotate with round stone. I suggest using onetech.info/ instead of the wiki, I prefer it as it pulls the data directly from the game's code so it's always up to date.
