Soubhana Allah, Allah guided my son to Islam, he announced just before Ramadan that he wanted to fast and learn to pray salat, it is the greatest joy in my life to help him understand Islam, to be a Muslim mom. He is 24 and he doesn't want to tell the rest of the family because he is afraid they will disown him. Allah's test for the two of us. My worry is how he explains his diet and how he is going to pray on time when he is with them

That story of Bobby's dream really gives me goosebumps.

A few months ago, I was introduced to Imam Tom through an interview with Bobby. I am so happy that I did because I "discovered" the best teacher on KZfaq for me. Glad that there was a second interview.

During an interview with Angelika Neuwirth, the distinguished Professor of Qur’anic studies, she argued that the Qur’an has never been successfully challenged by anyone, past or present: "No one has succeeded, this is right… I really think that the Qur’an has even brought Western researchers embarrassment, who were not able to clarify how suddenly in an environment where there were not any appreciable written text, appeared the Qur’an with its richness of ideas and its magnificent wordings."

imam Tom Facchine should really do these types of podcasts more frequently with muslim reverts.

I'm only 23 minutes in but I have to stop and thank you for this video. It touches so accurately on issues I'm dealing with now, I'm humbled. My mind is troubled and you bring the exact points I need. First in not feeling ashamed of how difficult it is after reverting, how it's not the happy ever after shahada story and what a true and lonely struggle it can be. Second, as I come from a Jewish background and faith I'm honestly feeling an identity crisis with this exact "you and them" attitude you are describing. It's coming BTW both from Jews and Muslims. It's reassuring to remember again it's not about the right and the wrong group which is something I dislike so much. It's about searching for the truth and walking in it's path. Salaamualaikum from South Africa. My marhoom husband schooled in England in the 1970s. He went to a private school St Edmunds College. On his return, he enrolled at university studying law. 4 years later in his postgrad year we met, and he was interested in marrying me. I explained to him that I come from a conservative family but he persisted. He was very interested in Islam because even with his catholic schooling, he knew there was something missing. He took the shahadah and we got married. We experienced great difficulties with his family. Being of indian origin they were fine with everything- Diwali, Christmas-you name it,but not Islam. For the 1st two years, he was under cover from his family. On one occasion he even broke his fast to drink the tea his mother made for him 😢 Eventually things subsided. It was truly a jihadi journey alhamdullilah. I knew my purpose then. Please remember me in your duas

New reverts experience same issues as first companions of the prophet ﷺ, so they need to read their biographies as lesson to learn, especially how to react to parents and relatives

The point of identity is a great point. It is often the barricade, the obstacle that I come up with when engaging with non-Muslims. They don't know that they're doing it, and the ego quickly puts up a defensive wall and alienates the "other" right away. Without even delving into theology, the word Islam by itself puts them on edge. If you DARE suggest their Gospels are anonymous, immediately YOU are the enemy for suggesting such a truth. The only thing I've personally found helpful is to build rapport with others on a genuine level prior to engaging any such discussion. But even then I still had people get a bit triggered, even after weeks upon weeks of building a relationship lol. Oh well 🤷
