I bought this Hayter Harrier 48 Pro 2 years ago, about this time of year, it wasn't my first Hayter, but it was my first for a while, and I thought it was time to see how the upgrades got on.
Yes, I know, I could have given it a clean!
From "the" dry day in Yorkshire!

P.S. When you do something simple for a long time you become very knowledgeable, you go deeper the more you look at things simply. It always surprises me how much there is to learn about caring for a lawn when you get-started.

Got a 15 year old one and time to upgrade - love the Hayters - would you still recommend the Harrier 48 today?

I got the exact same mower as a gardener I use it day in day out. It’s a great mower the only downside to it, is the engine is a underpowered for size of the model it’s probably better on harrier 41 being a smaller model. they should really have the Briggs and Stratton which comes on the harrier 56 pro.

Great video. Very informative. You say you change your blade every 50hrs. Roughly how many hours do you sharpen it? Thanks.

Hey 👋 to sharpen the blade takes a few minutes. All to often I’ll just replace, if I have a few pounds spare. It’s the most important aspect for a fine lawn. Also change the spark plus often, does wonders on a cold morning. Thanks for commenting. Pls subscribe. Any other suggestions to t questions pls let me know. Phil

@@allgardening Hey Phil, thanks for replying. I am just starting out after a long military career I bought a second hand Honda HRD 536. Oddly enough I took the blade off it today and replaced it with one I bought online. I then sharpened it. Plus I took the blade off my home electric mower and shared it too. Used a flat file I bought. Both look much better and sharper than before. I guess the proof will be in the cutting! I'll always be looking to learn. Never too long on the tooth to do so! Thank you!

Good interesting video thanks. I’ve had a Hayter 48 Pro since September 2023 and so far I love it. Bit hard to initially start when outside air is really cold & takes a few pulls to start. I’m looking forward to the new growing season coming up and getting to use it a lot more. In my opinion you must keep you grass bag clean otherwise you won’t get suction/airflow for it to work correctly and pick up the cut grass. Clogged grass bag equals poor pick up of grass clippings.

I've found cold starts are easier if I do a couple of pulls with the blades engaged, brings better compression to the engine, also big fan of new spark plug if things get a bit ropey on cold starts@@kevtucker5411
